Bio
I’m an award winning poet and recording artist, who teaches World Literature and Composition at Chesapeake Bay Academy. My poems have been published in Experience Reality Magazine, Quay: A Journal of the Arts, and UpStreet: A Literary Magazine. I wrote the poem, "Sacred Drum," for the Goddard College Presidential Inauguration of President Mark Schulman. Through my Global Poetry Project, my poetry has been heard in France, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, Haiti, Venezuela, and Israel. My poems, "Guerrilla Ignition" and "Love's Outlaw" appeared in the documentary, Super-Size Me, Too. I’m also the President of Guerrilla Ignition, an independent recording company, which focuses on recording the spoken word poetry of poets. I’ve produced more than sixty poetry/spoken word albums for the company. I received a B.A. and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Goddard College. Lastly, I host The Prime Time Poetry Show, in Norfolk, VA, lead the African Mahogany Book Club—the longest running black book club in Hampton Roads (16 years), and host The People’s Poetry Festival.
