Synthetix is a Breakbeat/Electro producer and live act currently based in San Francisco, California. Formed in 1999 by Shea Steinbacher from a desire to create and explore technology based, futuristic music that was forged from years of attending and playing in various raves and nightclubs throughout the US. Having released 13 original full-length albums and EPs on labels such as Anti-Matter Records, Black Magic Records, FutureElectro/Monotone-US and currently his own independent label ZerosAndOnes Records.
Synthetix, through his unique presentation of hardware based livePA, fuses dance-able rhythms, pulsating synths, booming bass lines, and futuristic effects. Presenting a full onslaught of the senses for audiences that typically includes intelligent lights, lasers, and video projections, producing a high energy show that will make you want to battle robots, take over the world, and shake your ass.
Once called a "a great soundtrack to a robot invasion", Synthetix has had the pleasure of performing live with acts like Skylab2000, Hydraulix, J-Break, Wutam, DJ Godfather, The Spacemen, DocNasty, Debonaire, Autonomous Bassheads, and FrontLine Assembly. In 2020, Synthetix joined the FrakturedNation crew (FrakturedSF) , that has established a premier presence throughout the US with acts like Simply Jeff, Eva, Donald Glaude, and many others.
