Bio

Our band is born in 2002 when three friends, all living in Italy, near Rome, coming from three different bands, decided to create the band “Sysma”.
Sysma is Marco (songwriter, voice, guitars), Toni (drums) and Roberto (bass guitar).

Our story is similar as a lot of provincial garage bands till the day we met the English manager Rayner Jesson (Tender Prey’s owner). Rayner began to work with the legendary English label “Stiff” in the ‘70s, and his most important artist was Nick Cave for twelve years. He began to work with us because he firmly believed in our songs and he helped us to improve our sound too.
Unfortunately he died after two years for a previous bad stomach cancer so we lost a manager and a nice friend.
After Rayner’s death Marco decided to promote the band and, thanks of Rayner’s friendships, he had had the possibility to mix the first Sysma’s cd (14 songs) at The Metropolis studios in London at a very good, special price. The songs were mixed by Matt Lawrence (whose credits are artists like Bjork, Whitestripes, U2, Adele ….and many others).
Last year, in November, Marco produced the 2nd cd called “Be Loud, Be Proud” , always mixed by Matt Lawrence but in a different studio (one of the Miloco’s grouping London).
These albums are distributed by Cdbaby.
Now we have decided to promote our 2nd cd in the USA where we have found a lot of followers thru myspace, before people migrate on facebook, with more than 38.000 friends and over 70.000 plays. Our drummer will be living in Boston from July and we want to follow him in September. Our promotion begins with an EP of seven songs. We have made a radio edit of “Dream of Me” too, because this song could be long for some radio formats.
I think about online promotion is interesting and good but I believe the old radio format is still the best.
