Bio

T-Rex Marathon has been performing in some form since 2012, but did not fully realise its potential until 2017 with the completion of its 5 member lineup. The band’s sound is shaped by the music they grew up on. Bands such as Alexisonfire, Billy Talent, and Couterparts among others. With that in mind, each member brings with him his own influences, and together they make a sound that is both reminiscent and evocative.

At the start, T-Rex Marathon was comprised of Jeremy Toppings on Bass/Screams, Alex Hodges on Guitar, and Darien Swolfs on Drums. The trio, taking notes from their favourite metal and hardcore bands performed for whoever would listen and attracted a loyal fanbase that they still perform for today despite a significant change of sound.

Combining Jeremy’s screams with clean vocals was a challenge that T-Rex was excited to overcome. With Adam Sakauye joining in 2014, clean vocals became the primary form through which they would communicate. With this change T-Rex began to move away from their hardcore roots, and in doing so, they opened themselves up to a whole new audience. Their music still delivers the power and rage of youth, but it is tempered by melody and narrative.

But that was not the end for T-Rex Marathon’s sound. In early 2017, the foursome brought on an additional guitarist. Aaron Stafford brought technical efficiency and fearsome riffs, adding more punch to the increasingly punk edge that T-Rex had been perfecting the past half-decade.

Since then, T-Rex Marathon has gone on two major tours across eastern Canada and have released two demo EP's, two singles, and a live performance recording (all of which can be found on major streaming platforms). The band has also played countless shows in their hometown of Ottawa and many more in major cities like Toronto and Montreal.

Today T-Rex Marathon is finishing up their first full length LP and is looking to keep growing and expand into new markets, make new fans, and keep improving their craft.
