"Dialed In"

“Perhaps one of the finest alt-indie bands around today, Tagine’s main ingredient is rock solid groove, vocals and harmonies that ring true to pitch and tone, and production that leaves me believing someone is watching out for these boys… Tagine is one seriously dialed in outfit … easily destined to play to those whose idea of perfection is the quality of bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers or Stevie Wonder…” - Gods of Music.com

"MN Four"

"Minnesota four get funky (somewhere between Dave Mathews and the Chili Peppers) while keeping the pop-rock propulsion on track. Singer/guitarist Wade Linkert has good looks and gives a soulful and rangey voice to his originals, one of which snagged a NARAS contest award in 2002. "Fix" opens and is the band's most exemplary number. "Must Have Been Dreaming" is a laid-back change of pace. Good band, ay?" (8 out of 10)

"TAXI"

Wade, thanks for sending in such a slammin' collection of cuts ..... The band has a chemistry that just oozes off of the tape and then some. The production, playing, vocal performances, and overall quality to your submiision is excellent ..... keep it up ! I would like to recommend continuing down this road, while striving to write arrangements & hooks that are even more arresting than what I hear here.... Great job . Your music was forwarded because it was funky, catchy, professionally delivered, and well-recorded.

Bio

While doomsayers lay dying in wait for the next 15-minute imposters to affirm their worst fears about rock-n-roll’s imminent demise, Minnesota’s SECRET SOLUTION (formally called FLAVOR) are daring to spread hope among the masses. As the band FLAVOR, they hit countless venues throughout the upper-Midwest, taking audiences on a crusade far beyond the clichéd confines of reality TV culture, yet still managing to clock in infectious, hook-heavy songs at a tidy three-and-a-half minutes. It’s the kind of song craft that’s led Minneapolis’ No Alternative Records to proclaim, “SECRET SOLUTION proves that the Twin Cities can produce artists beyond its already clever pop heritage.” In 2005 they signed with Blu Hammock Records out of New York and with the new label came a new name...SECRET SOLUTION.

For their countless fans, the leap of faith is really no big trick – SECRET SOLUTION’s fresh, dynamic sound melds a perfect-pop combination of both brains and balls. But the cuts are courageously deep, fusing whip-smart, lovesexy lyrics with modern guitar-rock bravado and a super-tight spin on the streamlined grooves of old school funk, R&B and soul. They’ve been compared variously to Jeff Buckley, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Prince, but with their Latin flair and knack for stylish jazz harmonies, the St. Paul Pioneer Press also hails them as, “a pleasant yet subtle divergence from much of the rock music that’s out there.”
That mix of genre-bending approach and universal appeal has found them opening for acts as wide-ranging as Edwin McCain, Jonny Lang, Dada, The Nadas, Little Feat, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, The Gear Daddies, and Joe Firstman, and their blistering live show has been garnering devotees at theaters, clubs, festivals and college campuses alike. They’ve racked up numerous accolades as well, being granted Best Rock Band by the 2004 Minnesota Music Awards (MMA). The MMA also awarded them Best Rock Album (for their 2003 release, “Red”) as well as nominations for Best Rock Band (2003) and Best New Band (2002). That year also saw them snagging a NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) award, Jim Beam’s “Band of the Week,” and winning Minnesota’s KQRS “Homegrown” contest.

Beneath the impressive luster, SECRET SOLUTION’s power-packed songcraft suggests years of introspection, exploration and fine-tuning. Indeed, vocalist/guitarist Wade Linkert and lead guitarist Alex Moreno have written together since their early teens, playing in a number of different bands. Originally a drummer, Linkert found himself drawn increasingly toward songwriting, and itching to bring his own material to both studio and stage as a front man. During a short-lived split between the two to work on stylistically distinct projects, Linkert recorded his first solo release, “Flavor,” performing all of the instruments by himself. He soon recruited bassist Ben Shaffer and drummer Austin Dingus to perform the songs live, and eventually re-joined with Moreno. They took upon what was to become a prolific co-writing partnership, penning two more studio albums, 2002’s “Red” and 2003’s “Genuine Flavor.” Linkert even managed to squeeze in another solo LP – “Behind a Smile“ – in 2003.

And SECRET SOLUTION shows no sign of slowing down. They’ve proved it with their fourth full-length effort, “Secret Solution,” which is due Fall 2006 and shows them honing their sound to both razor-sharp smarts and pop-accessible sensibility. With a passionate promotional knack, extraordinary musicianship and nose-to-the-grindstone ethic, SECRET SOLUTION possesses all the stuff of which rock-n-roll legends are made, redefining yesterday’s greatest trends while wowing mainstream audiences with forward-looking innovation and indisputable sonic brilliance.
