Taige' and Justin

Taige’ Kussman and Justin Fischer (Taige’ & Justin) is a unique collaboration of the adult contemporary genre. Their freestyle writing, consisting of Justin compiling a progression and Taige’ putting lyric and melody to his music, is evident in the organic and fluid nature of their style.

The story of Taige' and Justin goes a little something like this:

As a young girl, Taige' dabbled in word play, lyricism, and poetry and as she grew as a writer, she developed a passion for using words as a powerful tool. She sang her lyrics and melodies in the shower and took piano lessons in elementary school. As she reached middle school and entered high school, she abandoned the piano for sports but continued her voice training in the acoustic environment of her bathroom.

As Taige' ended her music endeavors, Justin began his. At 13 years old he took guitar lessons and discovered he had a sharp ear for music. Two years later, he took piano lessons for a year and towards the end of his high school career, he stumbled upon his ability to articulate smooth and clean music that is easy on the ears.

Although Taige' and Justin attended the same highschool, they didn't connect until after they both graduated. In December 2008, Taige' sat back down at a piano for the first time in 6 years and discovered the cathartic release of writing music with her lyrics. Shortly after, in the summer of 2009, while Taige' and Justin were both visiting a mutual friend in a dorm room at Seattle University, an ipod was playing some of Justin's guitar instrumentals in the background and Taige' did not recognize it. The mutual friend, Anthony, told her that the music was Justin messing around on a guitar and a ukelele. She turned to Justin and told him that she recently started writing music and suggested that maybe they should play together sometime. They left Anthony's without making any plans to collaborate. A couple weeks later, Taige' had the opportunity to play some music in an empty room with a sound system. That day she ran into Justin at the gym and told him he should stop by with his guitar if he wasn't busy.

Long story short, Justin stopped by and the rest was magic. They discovered an easy musical chemistry and since that summer they have written over 20 songs together.

Their debut album, “Moments Like These”, includes 10 songs written and composed by the duo and features their producer, Kevin Jones, playing the electric guitar, mandola, oud, and dobro, Doug Williams on percussion, and Greg Hendrickson on the standup 5 string bass. The CD was recorded at Turn Studios in Enumclaw, WA . Taige' and Justin consider themselves spoiled to be able to work with incredibly talented and knowledgable musicians so early in their careers. The result of working with such musicians has given "Moments Like These" vibes of raw, young talent fused with old soul experience.
