Bio

"...joplin-esque soul, tight and crunchy rhythms, groove, and grind..." that's what makes tailchaser one of the hottest new acts to hit the stage in 2007. lead by the charismatic christy carignan, this edmonton based band attacks the spotlight with energy and confidence. paying tribute to classics like jimi hendrix and tom petty, and modern icons like sheryl crow and audioslave, talichaser tempts their audience to the dance floor song after song, all night long.

while tailchaser seems to have a natural sense for great, danceable grooves, much of the attention has been focused on lead singer carignan. gifted with a soulful voice, her charm comes from a combination of nervousness and confidence that is equally intriguing and seductive. "she impressed me so much with her energy and presence, i turned to jeff and just said 'yeah,'" says james seabrook of the day he met carignan. jeff hicks and seabrook were working on a studio project for a mutual friend, and it was hicks who introduced carignan.

it was almost a year later when brian tremblay introduced himself to the band, and the chemistry was instant. an accomplished music photographer from ontario, tremblay was both impressed by the courage behind the name 'tailchaser,' and intrigued by the direction the group was heading. of course, being the youngest of the four, tremblay is constantly the object of mockery, and hicks still insists he met brian when he "...showed up on my doorstep with 24 pizza's!"

the most impressive thing about tailchaser isn't their groove, or their choice of songs, or even carignan herself. it is obvious from the first note on stage to the last that tailchaser is about doing it together. behind the show and the music, it is plain to see egos don't exist; each playing their role for the sake of the other three. carignan is quick to explain how such an ideal is a priority for the foursome. "i really want all of our voices and influences to contribute..." and tremblay ads, "i see so many positive things coming in our not so distant future, i'm excited to be able to share it with 3 other amazing people."

whatever the hype may be, one thing can be taken as fact, there really is something special about tailchaser. if it's carignan's voice, the infectious grooves of hicks and tremblay, or the incredible attitude of four friends, it is unstoppable, and the excitement is obvious in hicks; "seriously. this is the best, most talented band i have ever been in!"
