"The Communicator News"

What happens when you combine the lyrical skill technique of Hip Hop icon Rakim and the cross over appeal and savvy of Will Smith? 8-year-old Hip Hop protégé Taji Dynamight. Born and raised on the schoolyards of Columbus, Ohio, Taji, who now resides in Atlanta, Georgia, is Hip Hop’s version of India Irie. Not since Rakim has an MC besides NAS come up correct on lyrical content that makes one think almost radical. Taji has been entertaining since he realized that he had vocal chords. From singing gospel music at church, and funerals to being featured on the now defunct “Capital City Hip Hop Show” which was featured on WSMZ radio in 1999, I’m sure that children, parents, and grand parents from all walks of life will agree that “Taji IZ DA MAN”. While Hip Hop audiences have become accustomed to music videos featuring child age stars with bare skinned women who resemble super models that might appear on Pay Per View cable programming, Taji’s approach to the game is a little different. WillSmith captivated the broad spectrum of Black, White, Asian, Haitian, young and old Hip hop fan and not fans with his character of funny comical and open minded anecdotes. Focusing on those same positive images (which is definitely something the industry dares to focus on) Taji hopes to have the same response from the industry as Will did. Selling millions of records, and being able to captivate audiences of all kinds across the globe. Offering wisdom and insight beyond his years and stomping grounds, Taji’s lyrical subject matter ranges from what else, typical kids stuff, things that CHILDREN know about. Getting A’s on a report card, homework, riding in the back seat of his parent’s car, and “seeing death and destruction on TV”. When listening to the music of Taji, he reveals what’s central to his own character: the family, the shadiness of the business, and maintaining an engaging career as an entertainer. The state of the music and the state of the industry are two different things. The industry is wack right now, with the way labels are and the things that get exposure and the things that don’t, and the politics and bureaucracy and the payola and all that. Taji’s album titled “My Life” is set for release Nov 2003 on First Dynasty Records with production from Music Veteran Toby Rivers, J. Rawls of Lone Catalyst, Otis Sharp of Mekka Born Sound, and Okyeame; Hip Hop artists and producers whom reign as 2001 “Hip Life” artist of the year in Ghana, West Africa. Taji’s first single “Outta Control” are set for release April 1st 2003. This project is definitely set to make Dynamight the explosive artist he was meant to be. Bio

Several questions have been raised about where hip-hop will is going in the 21st century. The answers have not been what most people have expected to hear. Now is the time to lend your ear to the next explosive plateau of hip-hop via 8-year-old Taji Dynamight (Taji Jones). Hailing from the elementary schoolyards of Columbus, Ohio, Taji Dynamight is not a name you’ll forget once you witness the energy and explosiveness this kid’s punch packs.

Taji Dynamight has been rapping since he was able to say Da Da. Introduced to the game of hip-hop by television by way of several ad campaigns ranging from the “Burger King” commercials to the “Don’t do Drug” campaigns. He got his first break to perform on the now defunct Capital City Hip Hop Show on WSMZ radio in Columbus. He ripped the mic with his own freestyle that had every listener wide open.

You may ask what could a 8 year old possibly have to rap about. Well coming up labeled as a generation X-er and with the many devious things visible to children these days to only corrupt their minds even more, Taji Dynamight’s subject matter ranges from homework to sitting in his room meditating on any and all the positive things that keep him in tuned with his higher power.

He has performed at several talent shows in the Columbus area. He had the opportunity to perform for the city’s first recently elected black mayor for a Martin Luther King celebration. Taji’s single “Outta Control” has been causing quite a buzz in the New York City, Atlanta, GA, Columbus, Ohio and Los Angeles areas.
