rock and roll!! dirty blues and spoken word, for better or worse, it's all there!

Biography

Taken From Earth has just released "Lookin For Uncle John" based on the true story of Dave Caira's uncle who was imprisoned for bank robbery and then upon his release,"dissapeared".
Rock and spoken word dirty blues tell the story of Caira's search for his familie's "missing person" while simultaneously, searching for himself while struggling with substance abuse issues of his own.
Based on the true story of his search, the songs tell a composite of one's search for another while trying to find one's self at a cross road in their life.
Sex,drugs, alchohol, one's doubts of his own religious beleifs while held to witness the pleasures only Satan can promise and deliver, follow Caira through his search- or does he bring them with him?
"At that time of my life, I was trying to find myself, and my mom was trying to find her brother. I was trying to work through issues of my own and eventually, joined in the search for her brother, my uncle."
Caira wrote music during and after the search, and pulled the story together over the songs featured on the debut "Lookin For Uncle John".
"I had grown up with people who had passed away from o.d.'s and some who were still using various drugs, and it made me realize how distant we all grew not only from each other, but ourselves" I wrote a lot of the music on the cd related to that issue during my search for my uncle because the further I got from home, the more I could look back and see what was happening"
Caira taken a spoken word approach to most of his songs in a blues tradition-"There's a story to tell, and when I write in my head as I walk down the street, it is spoken in my head, and thats how it comes out on the cd-as is"
Producer Anthony J. Resta encouraged Caira to keep the songs "as is"-"He didn't want me singing what was not meant to be sung, and I love the guy for that, he cares more about raw feeling captured rather than what's "in"
'Lookin For Uncle John" captures the raw spoken word and rock and blues influences that Caira grew up on such as Muddy Waters, Rolling Stones, and his new found fave Tom Waits.
"When you listen to Tom Waits, you dont listen to "singles" you listen to the whole record, you play it in the house or car as you live your life-i believe as an artist, Tom Waits is truly, an "artist"
Caira enjoys creating music on a basic level as he did on "Lookin For Uncle John"-It was just me writting through a strat or Les Paul plugged into a 15 watt Fender amp. Then on some songs it was an open collaboration with Anthony and I hangin' out, and writting as another song was being mixed, just a guitar or piano-simple collaborative song writing which should be....fun!
"Lookin For Uncle John" by Taken From Earth is currently available on CdBaby. Rootsy driven rock in a pure form. "I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it"
