Taken In

Taken In is a high energy rock band whose stage presence and intense shows sets them apart from other bands. The band started in Mooresville, Indiana with Kyle and a few of his friends as members. After a few years of trying different guitarists & drummers, the band finally found the right combination & sound that they were looking for in the current members. The band kicked off their career in the summer of 2009 with a local Battle of the Bands contest. In the battle, they beat many of the local, established bands and took home their first prize. It wasn't long before they were playing shows all around the county and building up a strong fan base in the west and southern regions of Indiana by playing at many dance clubs & parties. In the fall of 2009, the band recorded the self-titled "Taken In" EP that has been distributed exclusively at their shows. With musical influences raning from Bullet for My Valentine, Atreyu, and A Day to Remember, the EP features intricate guitar parts and driving rhythms that showcase their original alternative rock style.

Kyle Marcum grew up in a small town called Eminence in Indiana and has lived there his whole life. Kyle spent his childhood days enjoying his hobbies like bowling, drawing, martial arts and, of course, playing the guitar. Kyle taught himself guitar after learning the basics of music in the school band. Once he master his guitar playing, he focused on songwriting and then formed a band. This band would eventually evolve into Taken In. Kyle shows his dedication to the band through his hard work, leadership, and attitude. Kyle sings lead vocals in Taken In.

Andrew Jobes also grew up in Eminence, Indiana. He comes from a large, music-loving family that includes his twin sister, Sara. Andrew’s hobbies are MMA, paintball, drawing, and playing the guitar. Andrew learned how to play the guitar from Kyle, and is now focusing on his songwriting skills. Although he is the smallest guy in the band, he has the deepest scream for those hardcore thrashing songs. Andrew show his dedication to the band by hanging in there when times get tough - and by flirting with all the girls!Andrew plays guitar for Taken In.

Cody Couch is from Clifford, Indiana but now lives in Eminence. Cody’s hobbies are working on go-carts, learning new guitar scales, pyrotechnics, and solving engineering problems. Cody learned a lot of guitar from his father. Cody shows his dedication to the band by constantly writing new material for songs. Cody always has a guitar in his hand. Cody plays lead guitar for Taken In.

Blake Garland was born in Gary, Indiana but moved to Eminence when he was in elementary school. Blake’s hobbies are MMA, bow hunting, basketball, and drums. Blake learned most of his drumming from his father and band teachers. Blake shows his dedication to the band by doing what he is told even if he doesn’t always agree. Blake plays drums for Taken In.

Levi Hicks is the youngest member of the band. Levi has lived in Eminence his entire life. Levi's hobbies are musicals, watching music videos, getting guitar tabs, and learning new bass lines. Levi taught himself how to play the bass. Levi may be the baby of the band but he is the biggest guy in the band - which is funny because he has the highest pitch scream for those accented breakdowns in the songs. Levi shows his dedication to the band by constantly networking and promoting the band. This is easy for him because he is either related to or knows everyone in the world! Levi plays bass for Taken In.

Sara Jobes grew up in Eminence, Indiana along with her twin brother, Andrew. Sara’s hobbies are musicals, movies, listening to music, & singing. Sara learned how to sing from her mother and church. Sara recently joined the band to provide background vocals - and it's always cool to have a girl in the band!
