Taking the Lead

Taking the Lead was formed in June of 2004. Three of the five members were being re-united after the dust settled from their previous band's break up. The time off really allowed for some musical and personal growth and development. Lou and Tim had pursued a new project but, it too, met its end. After a few refreshing jam sessions with old drummer Tom, they knew this was the beginning of something unlike anyone else. But first they needed a full line-up. For the rhythmic foundation of bass guitar they recruited Kyle, a close friend of Tom's. They still needed a second guitar to aid Tim's driving leads and give a sense of motion. They brought in Tim's younger brother Torre who's effects - laden rhythm guitar was the perfect fit to accent the punch of Tim's leads with a sense of eclectic attitude that allowed for the heart-filled lyrics and melodies that make Lou's voice a fifth instrument. Since the first practice, Taking the Lead has been pushing the boundaries of the genre into one of their own. Their stage presence is one to get people moving and brings meaning across in a charismatic, truthfull manner. It's turned their shows into an experience. With more and more people talking about them, Taking the Lead continues to evolve with each new experience that becomes a part of their music.
