Bio

“This music has been developing inside of me since before I can remember. Some say that those who use electronics to compose music are not true musicians, but when people ask me what instrument I play, my response is that I play electricity. Music is truth, so challenge yourself to listen harder…”
-Taline

At age 19 Taline began experimenting with sound using software sequencer Propellerhead’s Rebirth and Yamaha RM1x groovebox to compose. With no recording equipment or monitors, and no room for an extra table, she sat on the floor, listening to the groovebox through headphones and recording vocals into a cheap tape player.

Comparing her skills to her greatest influences Imogen Heap, Portishead, Aphex Twin, and Bjork, her goal was to be able to single handedly compose, program, produce and sing her own songs. She enrolled in NYC’s School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in 2002 as the only female in a school of over 75 male students and excelled in the program; thus reaching this goal.

After graduating, she interned at Astralwerks Records in NYC and at Female Musician Studios in Long Island, building her technical skills while building a home recording studio, and performing her music live in NYC.

At her first show at the Elbow Room in NYC, John Sands, founder of TWI entertainment, scouted her. Impressed by her performance, he offered her a position on the spot writing background music for television. Since then, she has been providing TWI with electronic music for use in various national and international television shows including The Maxim Awards, The New York City Marathon, The U.S. Open, FIFA Futbol, NBA Basketball, and many other shows.

Now age 25, Taline has performed at venues in NYC including The Bitter End, The Lion’s Den, Pussy Cat Lounge, Desmond’s Tavern, Nuyorican Poets Café, Long Island’s Vintage Lounge, The Funky Phish, Pisces Café, Bartini’s and McCoy’s.

In 2004 she was the only female ever to enter and win the International Producers Association Beat Battle, a competition held at the Nuyorican Poets Café in NYC, testing the skills of top independent producers from around the world. She was also the only female to ever perform in their annual IPA Championship Beat Battle who’s DVD is sold at Phat Beats and other NYC record stores.

Taline is now recording her first LP, which will be available in Fall, 2007 through Myspace, Itunes and CdBaby. Her live setup includes a Mac Laptop, where she runs Reason, Ableton Live and other programs, a Roland Mc909, Yamaha Dx200 groovebox, mixer, and independent mic. Her live performances are breathtaking; using Ableton Live for live looping, she composes entire songs in real time using only her voice and her machines. Captivating crowds, she is a sight to behold.

Taline has invented an entrancing and emotional hybrid of trip-hop, hip-hop, & electronica created single handedly, and without the use of prefabricated samples or rhythm loops. Free from the cookie cutter world of ordinary female singer/songwriters, her music is characterized by deep and beautifully harmonized flowing vocals and melodies over intelligent programming with head banging beats and bass lines. This music will unquestionably take you places. Just listen...
