Biography

Taliwah's sound is heavily influenced by jamaican music such as reggae, ska an calypso. The band also utilise traditional irish and african rhythms in an effort to create something new and fresh. The style is undoubtedly unique. It is reggae fused with funk, jazz, dub, hiphop and a number of other styles.

The core members are experienced musicians having been involved various other musical endeavours over the past number of years (e.g. Ezrah, Zero, Sketches) and have shared the stage with such reggae giants as Julian Marley, Desmond Dekker, Horace Andy and Dawn Penn.

The music incorporates classic rythms into a modern context. The band aims to create music that is sociall and culturally relevant.

Taliwah are a Dublin based band that formed in 2004. They are scheduled to release a 12-track album next December. All tracks for this album are written collaboratively. All members have an equal hand in the writing process. The band appears frequently at music venues, festivals, and the even the odd party/private function throughout the country.

Taliwah have been performing live now for over 2 and half years and have established themselves as one of the top rankin reggae/dub bands in Ireland. Their unique repertoire comprised solely of orginal music (no covers) gives a fresh slant on a legendary genre. Their sound has been known to introduce new ears to reggae and always keeps the fans wanting more.

The band take great pride in doing all their own recording and production work themselves. The mixing desk is treated very much as an instrument in the Taliwah sound and the sound engineer a hidden member.
