"Talk All Night (due at Glob on Saturday, September 1) changed its name from the Clever Deadly, but the band's members stuck with developing their core sound, which is focused on weaving together threads of electro/dream pop, downtempo, glitch and the kind of moody, atmospheric post-punk that some might call goth. Layden Bryant's voice conjures the R&B-inflected stylings of Iva Davies of Icehouse and Jeremy Ryder of Wang Chung around the time of the To Live and Die in L.A. soundtrack. Fans of the regrettably inactive Denver band Fiction 8 will appreciate Kate Warner's detailed and evocative synth work and production, not to mention her own richly emotive vocals. The songs are a perfect blend of dark, bright and dreamy and an earthy dance beat, and the music is vibrant, lush and immediately captivating." - Tom Murphy - Westword

Bio
We wanted our sound to reflect the things we grew up loving in music: great songwriting like in Blonde Redhead, The Catherine Wheel, and the Stone Roses. The power in electronic music to make you dance like LCD Soundsystem, The Chemical Brothers, and The Sugarcubes; The alternate freedom in electronic music for sonic experimentation like in Aphex Twin, The Books, and Boards of Canada. We loved how fun and crazy music could be like Tool and Deftones, and studied the vocal harmonization of bands like Lush, Low, and The Raveonettes. What we didn't want was something that lacked conviction (too poppy), or something that felt inaccessible(too experimental). We wanted to make songs people could feel, could move to, be intrigued by, remember, and we wanted it to be as timeless as possible (well, as timeless as electronic music CAN be; time will tell!), without the gimmicks or cheap tricks, and without taking ourselves too seriously. Just being serious about music.
We've written our songs over the last three years using a number of different tools and programs, in many different living environments. Some songs have been shaped around Layden's guitar work. Some from his lyrical themes of restlessness, wanderlust, and classic love stories. Kate has written songs with melodic synths and unvonventional song structures in mind. Our current/future approach to songwriting is going to be from a production standpoint; laying foundations of danceable beats and synth leads, with the instrumentation providing a raw energy to our live presence and lush, powerful textures to our songs.
