TallerSur

Taller Sur initiates as a support group for songwriters with the need to share music and gain feedback on lyrics, melody, and folk influences in creating music. Members from diverse Latin American backgrounds come together to perform a fusion of rhythms at Long Beach’s Viento y Agua Coffeehouse starting December 2005 and play consistently every Friday night becoming one of the only venues that has Nueva Trova in southern California. Taller Sur is currently playing every first Friday of each month at Viento y Agua and playing at other cultural venues. Taller Sur has not only formed into a musical group but also is a network for singer-songwriters all across Latin America, organizing cultural exchange through concerts and workshops.
Taller Sur has performed at diverse cultural venues like, La Curacao, Cal State Fullerton, Chapman University, Cal State Long Beach, KPFK 90.7, XRadio San Diego, among others. Also Taller Sur has volunteered with other cultural organizations such as Tenoch Productions, Tatalejos, El Sapo Cancionero, to promote songwriting in the community.
