"CD Critique"

"Phenomenal!!! Exegetically Sound...Doctrinally Correct...Socially Conscious...Brilliantly Creative...Holy Spirit Inspired!!!" -Rev. Darrell L. Armstrong, Shiloh Baptist Church, Trenton NJ
- Rev. Darrell L. Armstrong

"CD Critique"

“Davis’ poetry and performances are intoxicating, inspirational and relevant. Unlike a lot of Christian-themed performers, Davis refuses to turn off her brain in order to worship. She has embraced her spirituality without closing her eyes to the world and the result is a series of powerful, uncompromising recordings. Davis doesn’t cast judgment or throw stones, but manages to see God in every aspect of existence – whether it’s comic or tragic. Anyone interested in artists that combine intelligence, religion and raw talent should give this CD a listen.” -David White, Assistant Artistic Director Passage Theatre, Trenton NJ

- Passage Theatre Company

"Feedback"

"Tamara Davis, the August WORDSPACE Poetry Feature, was the embodiment of pure poetry on Saturday night. She is the experience of a woman living the fullness of her purpose with words reflective. Tamara brought tears to my eyes, and her intellectual and spiritual evolution makes my heart swell with joy! Oh, and the CD is hot! Tamara, your freedom of expression has inspired the birthing of a poem in us all.

"TAXI Complimentary Feedback"

Tamara:

This is, as I am sure you are aware, a very different approach in terms of song structure and form.

It has contemporary elements in the spoken nature of the delivery - but the musical approach has it's own distinct feel and character - uniques, interesting, and effective.

Lyrically a lot going on very quickly, but not really difficult to grasp the meaning and vibe - nicely done. Not sure of the commerical viability of this approach - but good to listen to - thanks. - TAXI

Bio

Tamara’ R. Davis has been a professional spoken word artist for over 10 years. Tamara is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity degree at Princeton Theological Seminary. Over the past four years she has been teaching poetry and playwriting for the Passage Theater’s “Poetry Nation” program in Trenton, NJ. In recent years she has facilitated spoken word workshops and creative writing critiques for the Union County Teen Arts Festival and the Mercer County Teen Arts Festival. She has since then assumed oversight and coordination responsibilities of the Mercer County Teen Arts Festival attended by over 1200 students in May 2006 & 2007.

While attending Kean University Tamara became a partner and spoken word artist with the powerful trio A. T.O.U.C.H. O.F. R.E.A.L.L.I.T.Y., and began educating and entertaining audiences on various topics that affect American society. This began her journey into professional spoken word poetry. Traveling around the United States and Canada, Tamara and the group opened for The Fugees, Erykah Badu, The Lost Boys, and their mentors - The Last Poets. Some career highlights include sold out performances at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) School Time Series, the Apollo Theater’s “Celebration to Black Music Festival,” Harlem Week Festival a host of NAACP and organizational functions and many college tours.

Since the group’s disbanding Tamara has continued on her path as a solo artist. Since giving her life to God, she has vowed to dedicate the gift God has given her to promote the word of God. To date Tamara has published one full-length book entitled "Completion - A Poetic Biography," released one spoken word CD titled "A Woman - Snapshots In Time," and prompted a host of chapbooks. As an expert elocutionist her credits throughout the tri-state region and Canada include repeated features at the Nuyorican Poet's Café, Bogie's Poet's Corner, the House of Poetry-African Globe Studios, and the Urban Word Café to name a few. Currently, she has completed her first gospel spoken word CD entitled "God Made Me."

Through conversations with God, the support of her shepherd, Pastor Darrell L. Armstrong, she has maintained the Rhema Spoken Word Ministry at the historical Shiloh Baptist Church located in Trenton, NJ since 2005. Every third Sunday the ministry prepares "gospel moments" for the congregation and provide spoken word workshops for congregational and community members throughout the year.

"God Made Me," featuring musical production by Marca Da Beatz elevates spoken word to a new level. Its messages address the topics of God's Love, Spirituality, Faith and Social Consciousness. Rev.
