Bio
Tampa Blue plays the kind of music he heard growing up in north Alabama. His finger-style is biting, his bottle-neck intense, his vocals passionate. Thirty years of experience have taught him how to grab an audience and hold their attention, performing with an edge achieved through passion and grit.
The blues he plays and the stories he shares are instilled with knowledge gained from a life-long love for his Southern heritage. Through his musical apprenticeship he has learned and stolen guitar techniques, songs and stories from folks such as Roy Book Binder, John Cephas, John Jackson, and Sparky Rucker. Tampa Blue's music is based in material from the 1880s to the late 1930s but he includes a number of originals strong enough that you’ll think they were from the 1930s; historically correct and aware while bringing the blues forward to today.
