Tania Cordobés

Tania Cordobés

 Dallas, Texas, USA
BandLatinSinger/Songwriter

Singer-Songwriter's style is best described as Contemporary Latin Fusion with a touch of Americana. Tania’s original material combines beautiful melody, syncopation and soulful lyrics that embody her Cuban-American heritage. Cordobés has released 3 original CD's to glowing review.

Biography

In a recent review of her latest CD, "Containers and Jars," (a title used to describe the belief that songs and the arts are containers for feelings and experiences) Mario Tarradell, music critic for the Dallas Morning News stated, "She writes songs to brighten the soul and move the emotions, such as the uplifting little gems "Seguiré", "Cantico Santo", "Miracle", "Eternidad" and "Dreams". Cordobés sound is most eclectic...There's a warm, homegrown, textured feel... a refreshing effort." Naming the new CD an "Editor's Pick", Descarga Magazine calls the new release a "beautiful Cuban-American pop fusion". What sets Ms. Cordobés apart from other bands is the delivery of "supple songs with the Cuban fun mixed in" according to singer-songwriter Pete Bixby. At a live show, whether performing as a soloist or with her full ensemble, young and old start moving. Tania has written and recorded 3 full length CD's and several singles. A full scholarship in music led Cordobés to earn her bachelors and master's degree in music and music therapy in Texas with post- graduate music studies completed in Havana, Cuba. In the early days, as a working music therapist she was also active in folk circles, her once shy singing and forthright songwriting continued to develop until a solo performance career and fans had gathered and her first CD's were in progress, working with various duos and bands through the years. She had the honor of being invited to sing with a Texas band, "Come Together" at Willie Nelson's picnic in 1998 in Luchenbach. The band had asked Tania to translate the lyrics and arrange new lead and backing vocals for the song. The track made it to the hands of Mr. Nelson who requested the band come perform at the festival and bring "that girl singer". With a unique set of skills as a songwriter and music therapist, Cordobés continues to use music in the health care realm, in addition to writing and performing music as a way to connect and entertain on the stage. She also works as a backing musician for various projects on piano, rhythm guitar and backing vocals. Cordobés performs in a variety of formats (as a solo or duo in small venues to 7 and 8 pieces for festivals where she incorporates the full compliment of percussion to express the latin contemporary fusion sound) in order to meet the needs of the venue or simply to serve as a mode of expression for the group of songs she is performing.

Mama's Lost In Montana

Written By: Tania Cordobés

Mama’s Lost In Montana

Mama’s lost in Montana
Freedom’s just a few miles away
Was it just a coincidence
That she got lost on that highway

She’s got it turned around
Headed east instead of west
Driving half the night
To find a place to clear her head

Where are the Dakota’s and does it even matter
Maybe as she’s driving she’ll find out
Mama may be lost in Montana but I believe she’s found her way

Everything is new again
Where did mid life go
Drifting on the highway
She’s learning to let go

Past the mountains streams and highways
She’s not sure of what comes next
The endless sky is like a window
And we all know that glass reflects

Atravesando el desierto
Caminaré en Tu verdad
Caminaré en Tu paz
Porque confio en Ti Jehovah

Seguiré

El la noche de angustia
Confiare en tu verdad
Escucharé por Tu voz
Porque Te necesito Jesus

Seguiré
Porque Te quiero
Seguiré
Porque Te necesito
Seguiré
Oye la voz de mis ruegos
Seguiré
Porque Eres mi Rey
Seguiré

Eternidad

Written By: Tania Cordobés

Si gano o pierdo, Tu me amas siempre
Y mi futuro es contigo

Eternidad para adorarte
Eternidad Señor
Eternidad para alabarte
Eternidad Señor

Estoy segura de una cosa
Cristo no me miente a mi
Estoy segura de una cosa
Porque El murió voy a vivir

Eternidad para adorarte
Eternidad Señor
Eternidad para alabarte
Eternidad Señor

Dreams

Written By: Tania Cordobés

Dreams

Dreams are like paper that melts away like snow in the rain

They’re just vapors that float away and never see the light of day

Can I hold without you

Dreams

Life, just a series of dreams that I have grieved along the way

And this vapor of life that never turns out like my plans

Oh no, I cannot seem to hold on to my

Dreams

Whatever happened to second chances They don’t seem to happen

Oh you keep on telling me second chances but I can’t hear you now

Dream oh dream oh dream

Waiting in a memory I dangle and unravel on the edge

While I’m reaching for something in this life To give me hope and a prayer

that there’s Someway I can hold onto my

Dreams
