Tania Joy leads with a strong handshake, looks you square in the eye, belts out a belly laugh, and tells you everything will be all right. There is conviction in her words, and plenty of heart. This singer-songwriter of folk-infused soul reaches her audience with a distinct, honest voice.

In 2012, Tania Joy introduced herself to the music scene with her single “Gypsy Heart”, and with the recent release of her debut EP I’ll Be Around, she aims to take listeners on a soulful adventure of the human spirit. The title track is an intimate song that delights in the confession of love and desire, while “Gypsy Heart” is an exploration of the heaviness of regret. I’ll Be Around has earned airplay on Whistle Radio 102.7 FM in Stouffville, ON, and independent online radio stations supporting local emerging artists across the grater Toronto area and York Region.

Joy supports her recordings with vulnerable, powerful performances that engage the audience, connecting them to the essence of her songs. Influenced by soul (Roberta Flack, Bill Withers), folk (Bob Dylan, Ray Lamontagne), and blues (Ruthie Foster), Tania Joy can be found performing locally in Toronto and across Southern Ontario.

During International Women’s Week 2013, Joy participated in Wonder Women VI: WonderFest, a week-long series of workshops and concerts to spread empowerment through art, and created a social media campaign through YouTube and Twitter to engage participation and spread empowerment, supported by her unreleased song “You Hold the Mirror”.
