"NXNE Music Festival"

“This seductive songstress terms her music "enchanted Celtic fairy pop." It blends Celtic, Indian, folk & funky pop elements in entertaining & accessible fashion. Reference points would include Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush & Nelly Furtado.” NXNE Music Festival, Toronto Canada 2004 - NXNE Music Festival, Toronto Canada 2004

"The Tranzac Club, Toronto, Canada"

“With her flowing locks, big 'ol acoustic guitar & impassioned wailing, this songstress is Australia's answer to Alanis Morissette. Tanis & her backup band deftly interweave touches of funk & jazz with folky pop. Not just another guitar-toting babe-o-rama, Tanis also plays a mean flute Her sultry warbling is very reminiscent of Jewel, before she became just another blond pop tart.” Amanda Factor ChartAttack.com Staff June 12th The Tranzac Club, Toronto, Canada - Amanda Factor ChartAttack.com Staff June 12th

'Tanis' has written, recorded and performed across Sydney with some wonderful & talented musicians, artists & producers with many residencies such as Manly's In Situ bar, where the band is based. Collaborations with producer Daniel Phillip Golightly at Red Ferret Studios, King's Cross has lead to recording the 10-song DEMO CD entitled 'Enchanted Celtic Fairy Pop".
Now in Zaragoza, Spain with Luis Ruiz, Tanis is back to the studio writing and recording new tracks for a Spanish influenced album.
Tanis' unique vocals have been compared to Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks & Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles) and with the inclusion of unusual instrumentation gives this band such a special flavour.

**Some notes about the songs**
- 'Daisy Chains' and 'Dreamkeeper' are percussive with the use of the indian tabla, congas/bongos, funky bass, trippy flute and acoustic guitar.
- A great contrast to the more celtic folk songs such as 'Witch', 'Unseelie Wight' and 'Every Bird' with spine-tingling strings and powerful lyrics.
- 'Lothlorien' was written and sung in the Elfin language created by J.R.R Tolkien for The Lord of the Rings.
- 'Shine' proves to be in a different genre altogether enforcing a groovy feel and added sexy tones.
- A recent addition 'That's Why I Sing' introduces a catchy rock number.

**Cool stuff**
- 'Tanis' was invited to play at the 2004 NXNE North by North East 10th Anniversary Music Festival & Conference in Toronto CANADA. She was 1 of 3 Australians who performed at the festival and was one of the 400 acts chosen out of over 1900 bands. She performed with brother Daniel on bass and was joined by 2 Canadian musicians on drums and guitar.
- Shine was awarded an honorable mention in the 2003 John Lennon Songwriting Contest!
Only a small percentage of the thousands of entries recieved are recognized with this award.. The judges felt that this song was among the best entered into the Contest.
- Her celtic song 'Witch' has gained airplay with FBI.
- In February 1999 Tanis' girl duo DOLLSHAY auditioned and were chosen to appear on the series "Starstruck" on Channel 9. Since then Tanis has gained residencies in many venues around Sydney performing weekly through Southbeat Entertainment.
