Bio

Tara Howe was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and raised in Edmonton, AB until the age of 13. That's when she was exposed to the East Coast and life forever changed. A family move to Middleton, NS gave her a new sense of land, community and the deep roots of life. The sounds of the bagpipe and the traditional Scottish and Gaelic musics also made a profound impression.

Tara attended McGill University for a few years in the Biochemistry program but was restless for a different approach to life.

The journey began with the decision to work and travel through New Zealand, swerved into a life of writing, traveling, mountain biking, meditation and music, etched into an Anthropology degree, lost-found-and let go of an old love, and culminated last year after having her second child.
A different journey emerged and now begins.

Tara has lived throughout the Pacific Northwest but finds a fondness for Idaho and Arizona. Each calls to her with a different tongue.

She has explored musical interests with several bands throughout these regions as well as taking great stock in the music of Michael Franti, The Grateful Dead, The Dixie Chicks, Mana, Great Big Sea, Neil Young, St. Germain, Rusted Root and so many more that could be named.

Her music, thus, draws on many influences.
Her first instrument was, in fact, a beautiful banana-shaped harmonica. Exploration grew into the cello, piano, and flute, but settled onto the guitar and vocals around the age of 19. She is continuing to explore percussion, however, which gives her a great sense of connection.

Tara recently relocated from Phoenix, AZ to Moscow, ID where she currently resides with her two sons and works as a Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner for a Non-Profit hospital while playing regional venues.

She thinks outdoor music festivals are the best of festivals and any time spent outdoors is the best time.
