Still working on that hot first release.

Feeling a bit camera shy

Taro Hart was quite literally raised by the Dead. He was born into a family of rock and roll and his story reads like a folk tale starting with his first recording, which was a soundscape of his heartbeat, recorded in utero. Taro was the first person to start their music career before their own birth.

The minute Taro’s hands could fit around a drumstick, they became glued for life. His natural ability was amplified by the support of the community he was born into. He was a staple on the side of the stage, constantly emulating his father’s drumming and molding his own skill sets around it. By the time Taro was a teenager, he had already shared the stage and performed with some of the best musicians of his time.

There are a certain inevitable factors that come with a childhood spent on the road and unable to travel with a drum kit. Taro did what he had to do in order to keep creating and picked up the guitar. This transition was ultimately a necessary one as songwriting became a way to express the music he heard and saw in his mind that he couldn't convey through drumming.

The way Taro listens to music hasn't changed since the day he first began to understand it. His focus has, and always will be the drumming, and the bass line, which is why some of his music moves on top of a funkier, more hip bass line, instead of the traditional “in the pocket” bass line. His guitar playing mixes rock/ pop guitar progressions with a funky right hand that most drummers showcase in their guitar playing. The truth is, Taro doesn't play one kind of music, because whatever comes out when he's creating music is what he wants to play.

There’s something different about Taro’s music. It’s strong but vulnerable. It pulls you into his world that can be both heartbreaking and inspiring. It’s hard to say where Taro Hart got his sound from. It could be that he was born with an internal rhythm, a driving force, handed down and marching him towards his potential. Or, it could be that he earned it.

Taro grew up inside a legacy, yet his life took him down roads that many could never imagine. Maybe it was these experiences that elevated his music to the standard it's at today. Taro has the ability to show a part of society that most people completely ignore or fear but his songs also carry sentiments that everyone can understand and connect with. Taro's only rule when writing music is "never write about things you haven't gone through."

Taro just finished recording his 5-song EP with well-known producer/engineer Doug Grean (Velvet Revolver, Stone Temple Pilots, Sheryl Crow).
