Bio

"Tarri" is a talented ethno-classical African acoustic guitarist, prolific songwriter, and tremendously ranged vocalist, who taught herself to play the guitar and created her own musical genre - Rasolafrik!

In 2009 she had an exciting run in the MTN Project Fame West Africa house wherein she had a lot of fun relating with artistes from outside Nigeria.

Director of one of the largest choirs in South-southern Nigeria at the tender age of 15, she has gone on to write nearly 100 songs and several dramatic musicals.

Her debut Album, "Guitarri", includes songs in her unique eclectic rasolafrik style and others re-produced from the rasolafrik acoustic originals, such as the legendarily ad-libbed soulful ballad - "Nothing" and the soulful tribute to female self esteem - "Beautiful You"

She has enjoyed tremendous support from the Nigerian live performance scene over the past three years, in Abuja, Port-Harcourt, Yenagoa, Ibadan, Warri, has wowed the "Industry Nite" audience at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos a few times, and the Freedom Hall Open Mic community has constituted itself into her "home", in Lagos, her "town"! Invaluable support from BBC Radio, Radio Castle, Star FM, igrooveradio, Classic FM, Smooth FM, Wazobia FM, Cool FM, and other Lagos, Abuja, Port-Harcourt and Yenagoa radio stations has made songs such as the raunchy "Take It" and the 'Marley-esque' "Redemption", from the "Guitarri" album, favourites of venues across the West Coast of Africa!

She has also featured on several televised events, on virtually all major Nigerian television stations, and recently performed at the Calabar International Jazz Festival which featured Asa, Jonathan Butler, Eric Benet and lots of talented musicians! She recently performed at the 2013 AMAA Awards show in Yenagoa, Nigeria, opening the proceedings with an hour-long solo effort.

Songs from her first 5 albums have been completed, with on-going studio production, and her live performance repertoire includes many of them, including the funky "No Witness", the Ijaw/Yoruba tearful ballad "Don't Go", the racy "Explosions", the philosophical "Spirit", the touching Ijaw love song "Ipalimobo", and many more.

She typically performs anything from 3 to 10 songs, on stage, depending on the event requirements, with just her guitar and vocal chords, and sometimes with the support of Conga drums and/or Trumpet.

In 2013, she began designing and making her own "Guitarri Couture" range of ladies wear, and is in the process of patenting the design of the versatile "Guitarri Classic" dress which is made into any and all types and textures of dress from casual to formal, and for any and all events such as wedding, work, everyday, and any and all styles such as sexy, stoic, gothic, grunge, classy, ethnic, euro, oriental, latin, and just about anything one can think of, in ONE design style - "Guitarri Classic"!

Ultimately, this deeply original and dedicated professional musician sees herself as a guitarist, first, songwriter, vocalist, dramatic performer, fashion designer and gourmet cook.

Not many are bold enough to insist that the unapologetic Quincy Jones be contacted to review her debut album, but such is the ballsy musical style, dramatic stage, and self confident character, that is ... "Tarri"!
