Bio

"I first met Tarun 5 years ago when I interviewed him for my New Music Radio Show. I continue to be hugely impressed by his commitment and dedication as an artist to his music as well as in the business of music. He is one of the hardest working artists I know. He's a captivating live performer, a prolific songwriter of beautiful songs and can rock an audience with just his gorgeous voice and acoustic guitar or his funky live band."

Amanda Easton - Host of 'The New Music Show' MCR-FM

Inspired by a wide range of singer songwriters including Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Ben Harper, his music shows a great love for melody, diverse rhythms and songs that have something to say.

Tarun recorded his first EP more than 10 years ago with the Brisbane heavy metal grunge band Revelation. In the mid-90s, he toured extensively with the Sydney-based funk rock band Four. And in 1998 he scored a place as a solo artist on the US music sampler, 105 best bands you’ve never heard.

Since 2002, Tarun has toured throughout Australia, playing in mainly small intimate settings such as coffee houses, pubs, churches and youth groups, with his own blend of acoustic blues and soul.

Tarun Stevenson's first full-length album, Psalms for the Broken, was released independently in 2006 and is packed with strong, engaging songs with an acoustic blues / nu folk flavor."Psalms for the Broken" serves as a palate for his patchwork expressionism. Songs of faith and devotion, distance and desperation. This is the complete Tarun Stevenson, his picture in song, his canvas to an outpouring of melody and word.

His debut single No More secured Tarun a top 30 position in the TRAA community radio charts and saw him performing at a number of local and international festivals including Parachute (NZ) AGMF (QLD) and Blackstump (NSW).

Tarun's long awaited follow up album to Psalms for the Broken, Something Old Something New is just that. A collection of brand new and previously unreleased older tracks and re-mixes recorded over the past 10 years of Tarun's solo career.

With tracks that include radio single "Break away" recorded in Nashville TN with Grammy nominated producer Jim Emrich and collaborations with Aussie main stay Simon Tonks (The Angels, Dave Dobbyn) and re-mixes by the very talented Phil Gaudion
(Paul Colman Trio), Something Old Something New mines the sounds of classic Funk, Rock and Blues to produce a rockin' good album.

Tarun Stevenson is currently touring in support of Something Old Something New and accepting bookings for 2011
