Tash Anderson

BandPop

I write all my own songs and my music is a mix of contemporary pop and acoustic folk.

Biography

My songs are like my own personal diary. When I was fifteen I began a seven year battle with anorexia, which a lot of my songwriting has revolved around. After months in hospital last year, I was able to begin the road to recovery and reclaim my life. Music has been such a healing remedy and a therapeutic vehicle for me to express my emotions. My singing has been a significant motivation in my recovery, and I've written songs such as 'Wide Awake,' 'Prisoner' and 'Choices' throughout this journey. I hope these songs can help others experiencing similar struggles.
The title track from my CD 'The Ties That Bind' was written following the break-up of my first long-term relationship. I draw inspiration from a range of artists, from Missy Higgins, Coldplay to Snow Patrol. I'm currently gigging around Melbourne and looking for a way to get my EP recording heard by the right people.

Lyrics

The ties that bind

Written By: Tash Anderson

Days inch into weeks and suddenly it's been half a year,
And still your face remains
On my mind nearly all the time, and I'm still needing a sign
Before I open up that I still feel for you

Is it over, this thing I've held on to?
I'm scared, I'm scared that we are really through
Walk away now, well come on now
I dare you to, cut the ties
Cut the ties that bind me to you

I've tried to let go, so many ways you wouldn't know
But I needed you in my life
I've tried not to care that you're okay when I'm not there
Though I selfishly want you here all the time

Is it over, this thing I've held on to?
I'm scared, I'm scared that we are really through
Walk away now, well come on now
I dare you to, cut the ties
Cut the ties that bind me to you

Is it over, this thing I've held on to?
I'm scared, I'm scared that we are really through
Walk away now, well come on now
I dare you to, cut the ties
Cut the ties that bind me to you

Album (songs about us)

Written By: Tash Anderson

Let me indulge here for a while
One last time I will think of your smile
Then let the warmth around me subside
I will try hard not to look in those eyes
So we both agree and realise
It's probably best that we stick to a friendship
I'm learning to put my past behind
I will admit that I'm toeing the line

So I'm ending this album of songs about us, I've written of you for too long
There'll be no more of those eyes I adore, or what the hell went wrong
'Cause I'm moving on

Fading you from my life hasn't come easy, it sounds so dramatic
So I'll do it in my own sweet time
Until I'm ready to prove that I'm fine

So I'm ending this album of songs about us, I've written of you for too long
There'll be no more of those eyes I adore, or what the hell went wrong
I'm ending this album of songs about us 'cause I've run out of things to say
I loved you and lost you so now is the time
We both should learn to walk away

I'm ending this album of songs about us
I'm ending this album of songs about us

I'm ending this album of songs about us cause I've run out of things to say
I loved you and lost you so now is the time, we both should learn

I'm ending this album of songs about us, I've written of you for too long
There'll be no more of those eyes I adore, or what went wrong
'Cause I'm moving on

Prisoner

Written By: Tash Anderson

PRISONER
Words and Music by Tash Anderson

No I can’t take this anymore, I feel locked up in this cage
I will leave you behind this door, even though I’m so afraid

It’s not easy to be high; it’s not easy to be low
But I’m willing to give it a try, for I have so far to go

It’s not easy to be free, ‘cause your hands have captured me
I will unravel your firm hold, but I have a way to go
And you won’t leave me overnight, ‘cause you’ve stayed with me for days
I feel so locked in here so tight, I was a prisoner of your games

It’s not easy to be high; it’s not easy to be low
But I’m willing to give it a try, for I have so far to go

Why do I feel weak when I’m fighting you?
We will separate; it’s what we have to do

And you won’t leave me overnight, ‘cause you’ve stayed with me for days
I feel so locked in here so tight, I was a prisoner of your games

It’s not easy to be high; it’s not easy to be low
But I’m willing to give it a try, for I have so far to go
