Hi. I am a songwriter. My music falls in the following categories: adult contemporary, pop, pop/rock, dance and jazz. I love to write songs about things that I feel and have experienced. I write both music and lyrics and everything that I write expresses who I am and comes from the heart.

Biography

What is my name? Paul Tassone

Where do I live? In Sydney, Australia

Occupation? Songwriter

Relationships? I am married and I have three children

Favourite passtimes? Besides writing songs, I love movies, theatre, reading and travelling

Musical influences? I love all kinds of music from classical and opera through to jazz, show tunes, standards, pop and light rock. I am mainly drawn to great singers, people like Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra, who really interpret lyrics.

What is my music like? Through my music I try to tell a story, something that is meaningful to me and hopefully to other people. Rather than just repeating lyrics over and over and having a catchy hook, I think a good song should touch the heart and soul and move people. That's what I try to do with my music.

Lyrics

All The Pretty Painted Horses

Written By: Paul Tassone

Verse 1
Here's the portrait of my life
Canvas streaked with grief and strife
Masterpiece of nothing much to show

Hear the echo of my feet
Walking down an empty street
Leading to a place I used to know

Hasn't changed in all the years
Time’s gone by but still it's clear
How I used to love the old fairground

Here it is the very place
Where I always led the chase
On the fastest horse on the merry-go-round

Through the silence I can hear the sound

Chorus 1
And all the pretty painted horses
Go 'round and 'round and 'round

They gallop on air
And they haven't a care
And their hooves never once touch the ground

And all the pretty painted horses
Go 'round and 'round and 'round

Verse 2
Childhood took too long for me
Couldn't take eventually
Rushed to leave the carefree to days behind

Always had to get there first
So unquenchable this thirst
Meet my destiny before its time

Dazzled eyes refuse to see the sign

Chorus 2
And all the pretty painted horses
Go 'round and 'round and 'round

With their white tails and manes
And their black shiny reins
How they dance to the music box sound

And all the pretty painted horses
Go 'round and 'round and 'round

Bridge
Looking back I wish I paused
Who could have seen the pain it caused?
The images were blurred as ‘round I’d twirl

Strange the way the circle turns
I'd give it all to just return
Ride the horse again and watch it whirl

Bygone days in dizzy patterns swirl

Chorus 3
And all the pretty painted horses
Go 'round and 'round and 'round

They gallop on air
And they haven't a care
And their hooves never once touch the ground
With their white tails and manes
And their black shiny reins
How they dance to the music box sound

And all the pretty painted horses
Go 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round

Coda
Ever on they simply bound
On and on their hooves will pound
Never once to turn around
Like life the pretty horses just go 'round

One Day From Today

Written By: Paul Tassone

1st Verse
You said: "It's over now."
The news was cut and dry
You didn't cry

You said you needed space
This was the only way
I'd be ok

What's easiest to say
Is hard to do
I'm not as strong as you

Chorus
One day
I'll rejoin the human race
I will learn to face it
All again somehow

One day
I will start to smile again
I don't know just where or when
But here and now

All that I can say
If it's not today
It'll happen one day
Maybe one day from today

2nd Verse
And life keeps moving on
Each day I wake
The habit's hard to break

I eat and sleep and breathe
I try to look alive
But just survive

I pass each endless day
Without a plan
And do the best I can

Repeat chorus

Bridge
Today it seemed
I'd woken from a dream
I thought I saw a gleam
Of light ahead

But still I'm bound
I thought of you and found
My world came crashing down
On me instead

It begins again
This has got to end

Repeat chorus

Coda
Maybe one day from today
I will start to smile again
I will learn to face it
All again somehow
'Cos it's all over now

Implode

Written By: Paul Tassone

Intro
It's been four months
Three weeks
Six days seven hours
Twenty eight minutes
Forty seven seconds
Since you walked away

Verse 1
And I'm fine, life is sweet
No complaints so to speak
Going thru the motions as I do
But please don't look into my eyes
For then you just might realise
I'm nobody and nothing with out you

Chorus
Implode, collapse that is complete
Internal devastation my heart is in a heap
Like shards of glass that shattered
Cutting craters in my soul
The pieces of my life were scattered
Never to be whole
You turned away, you said goodbye
You never even told me why
And that made me implode

Verse 2
Do you know, do you care
That I just stop and stare
My reflection tells the story well
An empty shell is all that's left
A broken heart that died bereft
A place where love and laughter used to dwell

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
The friends that think they know me
Say I am doing well
But they don't understand
For they could never tell
Although they take the time to ask
My face is just a painted mask
That hides the pain I feel when I implode
Make the hurting end
Let me love again

Repeat chorus twice

Outro
It's been four months
Three weeks
Six days seven hours
Thirty two minutes
Forty seven seconds
Since you walked away
