David James McKinney is a singer songwriter from Oklahoma City. His sound has been compared to the pop/reggae of Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz. When playing solo he uses a looping station and an effects pedal to build a set of dynamic backing tracks that create a full, rhythmic sound. In addition to playing solo David also performs with a four piece band, Tasty BANG!, in bars and restaurants around OKC.

David has been writing songs since he was thirteen. He has completed five self released albums of material, which were recorded in various home studios. He has received positive reviews from the Oklahoma Gazette and had a string of successful performances in the Oklahoma City metro area including performances at the Norman Music Festival, the Edmond Jazz and Blues Festival, the Edmond Arts Festival, The Oklahoma City Arts Festival, OKC Opening Night, The conservatory, Picassos, the Blue Note, VZD's, Vin Dolce, JJs Alley, Bricktown Brewery, Tapwerks and even a bit of street performance in Bricktown.

On January 11th, 2011 David released his sixth solo album "Young, No Money". Through the summer of 2011 David single handedly sold over 500 copies of Young No Money between physical and digital sales. After Young No Money, David began playing with a revolving lineup of band members as the david james mckinney band, which later became Tasty BANG!. In 2013, he plans to release his 7th album, Hard To Find. To promote for this release, David has been pursuing festival performances across the midwestern United States. Notably he was accepted into the lineup for the 2013 Norman Music Festival along with artists such as Mike Dillon, The Joy Formidable, Samantha Crain and many more.
