Suitcase Sarah

Written By: Terry Comeaux & Billy Tate

SUITCASE SARAH

I see you're packing your things again
Suitcase and airline tickets on the bed
You're already gone, inside in your head
This time baby are you Mexico bound?
Or spending all our money up in Boston Town
You'll be free, next time you won't find me
'Cause the folks around here call you Suitcase Sarah
They're making jokes on you at my expense
When your travels make you weary, and you've run out of time,
don't let coming home be on your mind

Well I guess I'll take those pictures down
And let the broken pieces fall onto the ground
Start a fire out in the yard
When the flames burn down and the bourbon runs dry
I'll bookmark my life another chapter gone by
And I'll be free, from everything you want me to be
You know the folks around here call you Suitcase Sarah
They've seen you come and go so many times
But when you're needing shelter, and down to your last dime
Don't let coming home be on your mind
You know the people like to talk each time you go away
'Cause that fool on 42nd has been in the window all day,
Staring at the street, they never did get to meet you

I heard that you were back in town today
Standing on the porch of that big old empty house
With tears in your eyes and suitcase in your hand
Now I'm running to a place where there are no trains
Sudden vacations and runaway games
Your still free, from everything you wanted to be
You know the folks around here call you Suitcase Sarah
They're making jokes on you at my expense
When your travels make you weary, and you've run out of time
Don't let coming home be on your mind
You know I love you
But don't let coming home ever cross your mind

The Thirty Years War

Written By: Terry Comeaux

The Thirty Years War

She'd tell lies
Just to have something good to talk about
The hurt in her eyes, from a lifetime of living without, and hurting within
Married three times, with each one worse than the one before
Burgandy wine, her lone ally in the 30 years war
She calls her life

Night after night, while the children are sleeping and she's lying awake
She goes over and over, and over and over her thousand mistakes
Many a lessor lady, would have by now surrendered
She tries to put it behind her, but the wounds are still tender
And her soul shows the scars
Of a life that has rendered
The 30 years war

Never knew her dad and momma was always gone
She raised her little sisters 'cause she was the oldest one
She did the best that she could
She got them through school
They set out on their own
She saw a little daylight,
She ran straight for the sun
Like a broken angel would

Night after night, while the children are sleeping and she's lying awake
She goes over and over, and over and over her thousand mistakes
Many a lessor lady, would have by now surrendered
She tries to put it behind her but the wounds they're still tender
And her soul shows the scars
Of a life that has rendered
The 30 years war

So many battles so many retreats
Her Heart's been battered
by countless defeats
And how she dreams
Of a brand new start
A life without, the 30 Years War

It Ain't Love

Written By: Terry Comeaux

It Ain't Love

There are stories I could tell if only I had time
Younger days and stranger ways that linger in my mind
Though my memory may not be as strong as it was then
I still recall the last time I looked into her eyes and said

We've got something here but I'm not sure about it
It's a lovers' game but it's just not enough
We've got everything we need to be an almost perfect pair
But it's getting us nowhere
Though I want you near me
One thing stands clear to me
Hey, We've got something here but it ain't love

There were feelings deep inside that we thought we should hide
We kept searching for something better that we could never find
Day to day, the tender love was one step away
Face to face, the truth was we never got the nerve to say

We've got something here but I'm not sure about it
It's a lovers' game but it's just not enough
We've got everything we need to be an almost perfect pair
But it's getting us nowhere
Though I want you near me
One thing stands clear to me
Hey, We've got something here but it ain't love

We've got something here but I'm not sure about it
It's a lovers' game but it's just not enough
We've got everything we need to be an almost perfect pair
But it's getting us nowhere
Though I want you near me,
One thing stands clear to me
Hey, we've got something here but it ain't love
Darling, we've got something here but it ain't love
