Tawny

Tawny is a singer/songwriter currently located in Nashvile, TN. Originally from Miami, Florida, where she attended the University of Miami's Jazz vocal program, she now focuses on writing and developing her own personal songwriting and vocal styles. Growing up with a dad who had 6 guitars laying around the house at any time, it was never hard to find an instrument to play. She started her first band in high school that played all over Miami, Florida as they worked on developing their sound and music. Upon moving to Nashville, Tawny made her musical presence known in several of the local music clubs and song-writing circles. Within the last two years, Tawny released her first full-length, self-titled album. While the album demonstrates the different styles and genres Tawny identifies with, the songs are tied together by her melodies and disticnt vocal quality. She is influenced by her love of classic rockers, the Beatles, while her appreciation of writers such as Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell definitely impact her songwriting style. Though she is influenced by these individuals, she retains a quality to her writing that is distinctly her own. We hope to see good things from this artist as she continues to grow and develop her style and own musical sound. Tawny's song "Blue" was recently featured on Lightning 100's Local Lightning Spotlight, which highlights up and coming musical talents in the Nashville area. Hope you enjoy what you hear!
