Tayler Doyle

Tayler Doyle is a chameleon in most musical settings. As the band leader for The Kinky Fingers his guitar work is reminiscent of guitarists like Dick Dale, Jimi Hendrix, Cornell Dupree, and Luther Perkins; blending tremolo picking techniques, with early R&B styles, country western twang, and swells of controlled feedback. As a songwriter he’s a proponent of simplicity, obviously influenced by Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash a great deal, he walks the tightrope between country and folk. 

When Doyle was 5 years old he was struck by lightning. His first electric guitar, and the one he still uses today, is a Volkswagon / first-act guitar that had been in his parents basement before he found it. He learned to play guitar while working as the lone overseer for two developmentally disabled sex offenders in rural northern Colorado and was fired for “having too much musical equipment on the job”. When he wasn’t accepted into Jazz school he dropped out of university to travel the country, visiting his favorite musician’s childhood hometowns. A pilgrimage that would take him from Hibbing Minnesota to New Orleans, crisscrossing the south, along highway 61, to New Orleans, and eventually Austin, Texas.

After returning home he started The Kinky Fingers, a surf/soul/country western trio who have since cut their teeth by touring and playing almost constantly with bands such as The Growlers, Allah-las, Guantanamo Baywatch, Mystic Braves, Max Pain & The Groovies, Banditos, Temperance Movement, and more.
