Taylor Mansfield’s debut single titled “Sweet Nothings” taken from her yet to be released EP brilliantly shows the full spectrum of what you can expect to hear from her music. Sweet Nothings features an array masterfully executed chord arpeggios and melodies combined with a distinct vocal style that is very reminiscent of Cedric Bixler Zavala’s work with The Mars Volta.
The composition throughout is extremely clever and though it’s a piece that is clearly full of technicalities, tension and experimentation, Sweet Nothings has no problem in retaining a sense of clear narration and depth which comfortably guides the listener from each transition to the next. The combination of the solo nylon guitar and Taylor’s vocals forms a dense musical geography, ensuring that you never feel lost in what’s going on. Which doesn’t mean that there isn’t any sense of Taylor holding back creatively or that she’s afraid to take to take any risks.
It’s clear that every musical element was composed to effectively compliment another instead of forcing a combative or irregular push and pull between the lyrics and instrumentation for the sake of being weird. The simple organic approach taken with the production enables you to hear every scratch and movement featured in her playing, it’s pleasant to hear something that sounds like you are in the same space it’s being played in without over processing the hell out of it to make it sound clean so a great job on the production aspect provided by John McLucas.
You can clearly hear that Taylor Mansfield is a musician who knows exactly what she wants to deliver and create.

Taylor Mansfield is a young artist versed in various styles of music and expression. From rocknroll to jazz, progressive rock to blues, and Nylon guitar to punk rock, Taylor has paved a sound that is unique, enticing, and representative of her character.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Taylor moved to Los Angeles in 2014 after high school to pursue a career and education in music. She has studied and worked extensively on the LA scene, playing in the new all-female math rock trio UTENA at some of LA's best underground venues, including The Smell, Non Plus Ultra, Cafe Nela, and The Old Towne Pub, just to name a few.
In 2015 Taylor started launching her own career as a solo artist, and has worked with producers such as John McLucas, Naia Izumi (Guitar Player Magazine), and Rick Torres to help deliver her unique, guitar-based, emotive sound. She has been accompanied by some of LA's finest young musicians, including drummer Forrest Rice (Guitar Center Drum-Off National Finalist), and Kynwyn Sterling (Hit Like A Girl).
As of recent, Taylor's online videos and first releases this year, "Live On" and "Sweet Nothings," have caught the eye of the virtual music community and have earned her reviews from up and coming music bloggers. Shared and enjoyed by the likes of Lalah Hathaway and Yvette Young, Taylor's music may be diverse, but it appeals to any listener with an ear for talent and emotion. In an era that can be so hung up on trendy meaninglessness, Taylor's art explores intuitive, meaningful, thought-provoking topics. She's an old soul with a new approach to sound.
Essentially, Taylor Mansfield is the kind of artist you only come across in a blue moon. With her sights set on making an immense impact on music, like her idols Jeff Buckley, Axl Rose, Frank Zappa and Stiv Bators all have, she is determined to play for anyone and everyone to get out her message. Her new EP, "Neo," comes out at the end of 2016, for eagerly awaiting fans.
