Taylor Bjerke

I've enjoyed singing since I was very young and grew up listening to Shania Twain,Toby Keith and other country artists non-stop. Country has always seemed to be my genre of choice. When I was 12 years old I got my first guitar and began to take lessons but gradually got out of it. Two years later I decided to pick it back up again and began teaching myself through songs generally by Taylor Swift, because she was definitely a strong influence and motivated me to play guitar again. I've been playing for the past two years now and have been writing songs of my own, as well as doing cover songs. I've recorded a 2 song demo in Fall 2009 and will soon be going into a studio and recording a 3 song demo featuring 2 to 3 originals and will be sold at my shows. We recently added a ProTools studio in the basement for recording. When I first started playing again I recorded myself using the sound recorder and a cheap microphone I got from a computer game and put together music files of me singing and playing and now, with Protools, am more expirienced with the actual recording software and do my own recordings using that. As far as events go, I've been the first featured artist at Katie's Cup and been given the opportunity to play my own shows there. I also was chosen to play at the Rockford Helps Haiti Benefit with 19 other bands out of 50-60 that applied. I'm hoping to move down to Nashville in the next couple years to pursue my dream of being a country music recording artist.
