Taylor Mallory

Taylor is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, composer, and entertainer. At his shows,you can expect to have a smile and a thumping heart full of tasteful soul and pop tunes.

"I pride in having the audience be apart of the show and the experience. It’s about a love and passion for music and where it takes you. I'm at best when I'm not put me in a box.”

This is the reoccurring theme that rings in the music world of Taylor Mallory. This must explain why at the young
age of 23 he is penning hits with his production team Dupée Productions and placing songs in reality shows such as
Style Network’s “How Do I Look” and being featured as an actor in commercials for FINRA, Kellogg, Gatorade,
Kodak, and American Forces Network. “The industry has evolved, it’s all up for grabs.”

Born into a non-musical family from Decatur, IL it was a pleasurable surprise from everybody to see a creation of their own sing and write music. Taylor began his music career at age six, with the contemporary Christian boy group, “The B.O.Y.S.” (Believers of Yahweh Sing). They traveled and sung for 10 years opening up for gospel legends Orlando Draper, Ricky Dillard, and the Kenneth Knox Ensemble.

“Though no one in my family was infused with music I was exposed to all sorts of music styles and genres from my
parents ranging from Contemporary Gospel, R & B, Funk, Pop to 80’s rock and classical music.”

As a whole, Taylor has all the musical stylings of Bruno Mars, John Legend, Usher and yes even the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. However don’t get it twisted, Taylor, whose middle name is also Michael, does not imitate or duplicate. He leaves and puts his mark on everything he does. “I see music as an art form – unique and elevating to the life of the mind. At times I can be R&B, Pop, Soul or Funk. It’s what I’m feeling in the music at that point.”

In 2005, Taylor left Decatur immediately after high school to carve a niche for himself in the windy city, Chicago. Ignoring offers and scholarships from University of Illinois-Chicago and other universities, Taylor applied for and got accepted to Columbia College – Chicago. In the first year of his college experience, Taylor collaborated with and opened for Three Piece, David Banner, and Donald Lawrence.

Because of his progressing musical prowess in January 2007, Taylor won the MTV – “Making the Band 4” myspace.com VIP contest. In the Spring of 2008 he was a finalist for The Next Shining Star R & B Competition. Most recently Taylor was selected out of a thousand of students to perform live for Columbia College’s pre-graduation celebration Manifest (main stage). Taylor has performed at other venues as well such as Schuba’s Tavern (New York Songwriter’s Circle), The Double Door, Subterranean, Club Ontourage, Uncommon Ground, The Tonic Room, Spoken Word Café, and Club Babalu with Maria Isa Premiere Party in Minneapolis.

Currently, Taylor just finished shooting the music video for his hit single on iTunes, “Sunni’s Outside” which will be
available on his EP, Spring 2011.

Using his favorite quote from his mentor Ivan Dupée, “It’s not what you do to you music, it’s what you do with your music. At the end of the day it’s about inspiring lives and making a difference in the world.”
