TIÃO CARVALHO Singer, songwriter, musician, dancer and a music researcher from Maranhão, Tião Carvalho has a extensive knowledgement in popular culture. He took a part in several great importance bands in spreading the MPB dancing, like "Mafuá" and "Mexe com Tudo" Bands.
He founded, more than 10 years ago, Cupuaçu Group (bumba-meu-boi manifestation) at "Morro do Querosene", in Butantã, São Paulo, where, since then, he performs the Bumba-meu-boi, birth, baptism and death of the ox - folklore manifestation parties. At this show he appears next to the group, showing reinterpretations and new arrangements of classics from the brazilian popular culture, like "xotes", "baiões", "sambas de roda", reggae, "bumba-meu-boi" tunes, "tambor de crioula", "carimbós", showing its different influences.
One great and expressive name from Brazilian popular culture, he already worked beside musicians like João do Vale, Cássia Eller, Nana Vasconcelos, Zeca Baleiro, Sivuca, Hermeto Pascoal, Paulo Moura, Vanessa da Mata, Klauss Viana, Ná Ozzetti, Barbatuques, Mawaca. His song "Nós" (Us), was several times recorded in the voices of Cassia Eller, Na Ozzetti and Simone.
