Bio

Harlem, New York's own Te'von is redefining what it means to be a soul artist. The singer-songwriter and producer emphasizes authenticity, integrity, and exploration in his music. Te'von is cultivating a lane for himself in the ever-saturated New York indie music scene.

With a voice of buttermilk texture, and warm temperature, Te'von crosses genres effortless. His musical styles range from R&B, to Folk, to Experimental Pop. He cites Patti Labelle, Michael Jackson, Kanye West, and James Blake as his main musical influences. In 2014, he released what he refers to as his debut EP "..." which he describes as a musical memoir of where he was at the time. Fans and artists alike consistently describe Te'von as a mesmerizing talent who, through his music, takes listeners on a journey of self-reflection, and critical analysis, though they also heavily appreciate his ability to bring the "turn up". His music has been described as soul-stirring, comforting, and even ahead of its time. Te'von emphasizes sonic excellence, apparent through his heavy use of harmony and falsetto, and cites Diddy as a main influence in that aspect.

Te'von followed up his debut EP in 2016 with the concept album "THE HOTLINE PROJECT". Following the success of "Hotline Bling" by Drake, Te'von was inspired to tell a widely relatable, and incredible familiar, story from the perspective of the kind of emotionally manipulative, and misogynistic man that would sing that song. In the continuum of the project the protagonist -- referred to only as T -- receives a call from a friend telling him that his ex has moved on with her life and the story ensues. Throughout the story the character goes through phases while dealing with this information (disappointment with and concern for her and her "New Nigga", denial which takes the form of the song "Chillin'", unjustified anger and inebriated sensitivity on "Drunk", genuine self-chastisement and apologetic sorrow on "The Talk", nostalgic self-reflection on "Be My Shawty", and bittersweet acceptance on the '70s groove meets 2000s Jersey club take on Hotline Bling that is the EP's closing track "Hotline Groove").

All in all, Te'von is a young trailblazer perfecting his craft. With polished songs, and seasoned stage presence, he is bound to make a mark.
