Teal & Joyce

Carol Teal & David Joyce engage with original songs of lifes delights and dilemmas! Serious, sensitive and audaciously funny with a side of vaudeville thrown in for good measure (feather boa included) they leave audiences with a tune in their heads and a song in their hearts.

Their thoughtful, witty lyrics, tight harmonies and wide variety of instrumentation (guitars, mandolin, banjo, washboard, harmonica & feather boa!) will entertain and inspire.

Teal & Joyce have recently (July 2013) released their third independent CD, "Has It All Been Said" with 14 original songs produced by Jason LaPrade with a stellar cast of musicians. Their earlier CD's Some Things You Do for Love and Simple Pleasures were both produced and recorded by Paul Mills.

* Carol's passion for songwriting has won her two Honor Awards in the Great American Songwriting Competition. Sure to keep you smilin Carol plays guitar, mandolin, uke (and feather boa) in performance. David's songwriting reflects his love of the guitar as his first instrument and adds his skills on harmonica and banjo to the duos performances.

Carol & David have conducted song-writing and workshops for audience participants at the Mariposa Folk Festival for the last six years. They have also conducted many songwriting, guitar, ukulele, harmonica and visual arts workshops with indigenous youth in Canada's far North with the ArtsCan Circle program. Workshop participants are engaged in hands-on writing and art experiences with a focus on letting the creative spirit soar, facilitating self-expression and empowering the artist in us all. Discuss your festivals needs with them and they can design a workshop to fit the bill.

Carol and David are happy to offer songwriting workshop sessions for children and adults at festivals and have a wide array of childrens music and art activities to add to any festival.

Carol is also a visual artist who works in a variety of media. She is currently crazy about clay and is an active member of the Pine Tree Potter's Guild in Aurora, ON.

Carol and David have both been very involved with the ArtsCan Circle organization since 2005 and in May 2008 Carol became the organizations first Executive Director. ArtsCan Circle is a charity dedicated to linking creative artists with Indigenous youth at risk in remote northern Canadian communities. The goal of the organization is encouraging self-esteem in Indigenous youth through a cooperative exploration of the arts. For more information please visit the ArtsCan Circle website at www.artscancircle.ca.

A little laughter, a little blues, served up with love and compassion for the human state, David & Carols performance has something for everyone in their audience.

Their songs are smart, funny, powerful and always engaging. I've been absolutely enthralled each time I've heard Carol and David perform. Katherine Wheatley

"We greatly enjoyed having David and Carol perform at one of our house concerts. They demonstrated great musician-ship through their original and varied repertoire which was delivered with great flare and style. Their songs ranged from mellow and contemplative to witty and humorous, so there was something to please everyone. We would have them back anytime! " Norah Love & Drummond White, House Concert Hosts

"Carol Teal and David Joyce are excellent partners in life and in music. Carol writes engaging, interesting songs from very personal and serious themes, to the extremely funny, laugh-riot type. She can just as easily touch your heart as your funny-bone. David is a solid, soulful guitar player with a very strong sense of melody and harmony. Together they shine. With a great rapport and warmth, always making musical magic." Wendell Ferguson
