"VIP, LOEGz, LNS Crew, Team Next, Phranchyze"

To crib a line from Phranchyze, the Austin rapper with a basketball jones and the wingspan of LaMarcus Aldridge, Monday night was "colder than a Packers game at Christmas." The chill factor didn't stop ATX's hottest MCs from spitting fire on the indoor stage on a night where 20-minute sets ran with the precision of Mussolini's trains. The blue chippers of Team Next showcased Austin's young talent and deep bench, getting lifted on "Michael Phelps" and "Back on Deck." LNS Crew had a couple holes in the roster, but brothers Kydd Jones and Tank spit bullets over the woozy backdrop of "Russian Roulette." The group's command to "keep your L's up" proved a perfect segue for a surprise set from the League of Extraordinary Gz, the super subs filling in for Gerald G, who was witnessing the birth of his child. K-Paul and Pimpin Pen of VIP bodied mics on some grown-man shit, previewing the UGK steez of forthcoming full-length Country Cousins. The trillest cats in the building showed sly veteran savvy in coaxing crowd participation: "If you got love for yo' mama, put your hand up." - Austin Chronicle

"Top 10 Music Videos in Central Texas for 2013"

Back again with another list for Central Texas. This time we bring you the Top 10 Music Videos in Central Texas for 2013. With this list we weren’t going for the music as much as we were going for the visuals themselves. These videos were selected for the look, quality, creativity and plots. There were a ton of videos for us to go through in 2013, but these are some of the most notable.

The number one spot has to go to T.A with Back On Deck. The Team Next member’s video was one of the more visually stunning videos. Great camera work, colors and dope angels. Video was written & directed by Rodney Pinz & Team Next. Film shot & edited by Rodney Pinz & Jeremi G. - CenTex Hiphop

"Purple Flagg Swagg"

The return of Youngin ¼ of the Austin, TX super group Team Next is here with Purple Flagg Swagg. The long awaited solo mixtape from Youngin has finally been released. Looking to show people that the Team Next, Hood Swag movement is alive and well and that he hasn’t lost his skills Youngin gives the streets and his fans what they’ve been waiting for.
Jumping right into an lyrical onslaught, in typical Youngin fashion he goes in very intensely on the opening track “The Shining.” Keep along with the classic horror movie the beat is erie and Youngin does murder it letting it be known that he and Team Next, Hood Swag aren’t going anywhere. After that the project jumps right into the fly boy anthem of the summer “Swaggie” featuring his Team Next brother Swagga P.
Keeping things in regular Youngin fashion Purple Flagg Swagg embodies everything that is Youngin. The project offers songs that can have you feeling fresh and fly like “So Damn Fly” and “Swaggie” It has thos songs that can get you hype like “Whoopi Goldberg” and Muggsy Bouges.” The project also offers a series of Takeoffs or freestyles like, “Got Bars Takeoff,” Freddy Kruger Takeoff,” and “Purple Flagg Takeoff.”
Purple Flagg Swagg serve its purpose as to let it be known that Youngin is alive and well and has not fallen off or has any plans to do so. - Freshprinceatx.com

"Team Next interview with FreshPrince"

This was a quick impromptu interview I did with Team Next at the Team Stoopid mixtape release party last weekend. - Freshprinceatx.com

"Team Next Interview!"

We hooked up with T.A. & Youngin’ of the Texas based group, Team Next for an exclusive interview. Speaking on the history of the group, it’s always important for a hip-hop group to gel and feel a vibe of chemistry. We speak on how quick that chemistry came into play. - raptalk.net

"On da Come Up With Team Next"

Hip Hop Ruckus spoke with T.A. & Youngin’ of Team Next, a hip-hop group currently brewing and cooking a nice buzz down south in Austin, Texas. We discuss there life growing up in Austin (southern hospitality at it’s finest), the Houston mixtape scene which eventually blew up nationally, Mike Jones, Lil Flip, Slim Thug, Chamillionaire and more.
We also discuss the legendary yearly ran hip-hop festival hosted in Austin, South by South West. In attendance, Team Next breaks down the festivities and there experience for us.
Enjoy.
HHR: What was life like growing up in Austin, Texas?
TA: Austin is a place with a lot of diversity, so growing up here was a great experience overall minus any hardships that came along the way. The Austin experience gave us a way of expression that will always remain unique because Austin itself is a place where individualism is stressed and harnessed whether you come from the hood or the suburbs.
HHR: The mixtape scene was huge out there before Houston hit the mainstream — Especially Swishahouse. Tell us about that indie mind state.
T.A: The indie state of mind is innate coming from Texas and the South in general. It seems like we’re born with the drive to be self-made because it’s what we’ve had to do for decades so with time it just expanded into other avenues music being a big one given all of the talent that comes from the south. It’s not always the easiest route but it’s definitely fulfilling and helps build character.
HHR: How do you think Houston developed that mind state? You hear stories about Mike Jones selling 500,000 tapes before going major.
T.A: Mike Jones, Lil Flip, Slim Thug, S.U.C., Paul Wall, Chamillionaire all came out grinding hard & as kids they showed us how to really move in this game. From a personal standpoint Houston is just a place filled with the entrepreneurial spirit. It’s the biggest city in Texas and people believe in grasping their opportunities all the way from developers and landowners to mom and pop record stores; it’s just filled with hustle.
HHR: What’s your mind state like right now? Are you happily independent or looking for a major deal?
T.A: Right Now I would say I’m successfully independent to a certain extent, but to have the support of a major and be in a good situation with a major would really put the movement on a higher level.
HHR: What was South by South West like?
T.A: So by Southwest is definitely a unique experience; it’s like Austin INTENSIFIED! Lots of talent, flare, fans of all types from everywhere you can imagine. It’s crazy.
HHR: You’re from Austin where the event is held. Have you ever attended? Any opportunities arise?
T.A: I’ve attended three years in a row and performed two out of those three years. We met artists such as Pac Div, Wiz Khalifa, Donnis, Curren$y, J. Cole, and Dom Kennedy to name a few. We also got plenty of opportunities to connect and do interviews etc with media companies and clothing lines from all over the world.
HHR: Do you have any last words for our readers?
T.A: It’s been a pleasure and we really appreciate the opportunity. Be sure to go download “2xxclusive” and the host of other projects. www.teamnextmusic.com is under construction and just be on the lookout, our time is coming. - Hiphopruckus.com

"J-Walkin' & Other Teen Beats"

Rappers Team Next showed up sporting their retro style resplendently. They are all about choreography and attitude, and match it with irresistible beats and lyrics too catchy to miss. Young’un takes the lead because he’s so easy to watch but they’ve got a secret weapon in one of their six singers. His sweet tenor as he sang a ballad “to the ladies” melted my heart. - Austin Chronicle

"Getting to Know Austin Ep. 1- Team Next"

This is the first episode of a series I've been thinking about starting for a while, "Getting To Know Austin". This series won't only be about rappers, but last night with my friend Daniel of the Austin HipHop Review we got some footage of Team Next, some dope emcees coming out of Austin, TX. They perform the song "Michael Phelps", which is really one of the better songs about weed I've head in a while, because so many people make songs about weed that all sound the same. So I hope you enjoy. There will be more to come. Peace. - Austin HipHop Review

Bio

What started as a vision between a small group of friends has exploded into an unstoppable movement of young entrepreneurial artists on the road to worldwide eminence. The core of Team Next consists of 4 charismatic individuals together thriving as one force. Team Next prides themselves on setting trends, developing their own slang terms, unique styles of dress, etc. Their music is a continuous picture of their thoughts, perspectives, and reality from all angles. The Nextgang movement has never shied away from crossing the boundaries of "normal" in order to express a true sense of self and individuality. Their appealing persona & signature style (heavily identified by various combinations of purple & turquoise) spun the Austin Texas community into "Team Next Mania" giving them not only a local buzz but a regional buzz as well.

Their first album "Addicted to the Game"(2007) established Team Next as the most influential rap group in their city under the age of 20 & jump started their careers within the hip-hop community. Their second release "The Relapse"(2008) stood as a sequel to "Addicted to the Game" and granted them several performances along side acts such as Pac Div, The Cool Kids, Kids in the Hall, & several others at the world renowned SxSW conference held annually in Austin, TX. Following those breakout projects Team Next released several nationally exposed & distributed solo, collaborative, & group albums that expanded their fan base widely around the country. Team Next's most recent project "Nextlife" is slated to be another stand out project that surely pleases the ears of their fan base. Team Next has toured several states including Texas, Illinois, New Mexico, & Louisiana  with Flycat Music Group & continues to travel from city to city delivering energetic crowd pleasing performances.
