"River Jones Music Adds Five Bands to Roster; Here's Our Breakdown [Phoenix, AZ]"

Austin boasts many great bands (not to mention SxSW) so it isn't surprising to learn dreamy synth-pop duo Technicolor Hearts is from the Texas capital. In their short history, Technicolor Hearts (who call themselves "an art project for lovers") have shared stages with Zola Jesus, Chairlift, The Intelligence, Dana Falconberry, Love Inks, Dark Dark Dark, and Emily Wells. - Phoenix New Times

"All New York's A Venue Episode 15: Technicolor Hearts in Central Park"

Way back when I first came to visit New York in early 2010, I made sure to make a point to go see Central Park. An amazing rectangular island of green in the middle of the nation’s biggest city, it has a weird, otherworldly, almost Narnia-like vibe to it. It’s really enhanced in the fall though, when the sun hangs low in the sky, shining through the trees losing their leaves.

Then again, maybe I’m overly sentimental! Technicolor Hearts came in from Austin and wanted to do a session. Coming in all the way from their host in Jersey, they came to the park loaded up with all their luggage (which turned out to work in our favor seeing as I needed some tape) and played a couple of songs standing on rocks and walking through a tunnel, which created a mini-auditorium of sorts. - All New York's A Venue

Using drum machines, synthesizers, violins and vocals, this duo from Austin, Texas, blends tribal and futuristic sounds into transcendent experiences. - Isthmus | The Daily Page

"Technicolor Hearts at Grainey's Basement [7/26/12 Boise, ID]"

Naomi Cherie's murmured vocals, solemn violin and skillful looping joined with Joseph Salazar's quietly arresting rhythm tracks and garage-y guitar to create truly dreamlike music. Their twirling light show added further to the waking-dream feel of their performance. - Here Comes The Dumptruck

"The Deli: Artist of the Month Winner July 2012"

Corpus Christi, a song with some Texas love in its title by Texas electro-rockers Technicolor Hearts, starts off with a juicy, thumping bass which is quickly accompanied by a duo of dissonant piano and spacy female vocals. The simple but tight drums come in a bar later to help the bass hold this one down, but it those airy, attention-grabbing vocals and keys layered on top that make this song what it is, and these guys what they are for that matter. Not afraid to experiment, and to do it big. - The Deli

"Lucy the Poodle’s fifth annual circus party promises much more than music"

The evening’s also a record release party (and tour kickoff) for Austin orchestral rockers Technicolor Hearts, whose hauntingly beautiful 2011 single “Pretty” we’re still putting on all our mixtapes... - Culture Map Austin

"The Austin Cut: Free Week Preview"

"Austin Chronicle Show Recommendation: The Sour Notes / Marmalakes 7-inch release"

"wo of Austin’s rising indie stars, the Sour Notes and Marmalakes, release a split 7-inch, “Two Hands Wait” b/w “White Height,” stacking an impressive mix of Houston and Austin acts to celebrate. Joining Marmalakes’ joyous folk-pop outside are ATX synth guns Speak and Houston’s Bowie-baiting Roky Moon & Bolt, while the Sour Notes’ increasingly raucous sound gets mixed in with sets from post-rockers the Calm Blue Sea and unbridled trio Follow That Bird, with Buxton and Technicolor Hearts opening. Factor in the free pizza and vodka, and we’ll call it a party." – Doug Freeman - Austin Chronicle

"Austinist: Zola Jesus Sonaxus Tour [Show Preview]"

"Opening the evening is local duo Technicolor Hearts - fronted by Joseph Salazar of Death is Not Joyride and Naomi Cherie, formerly the violinist in Agent Ribbons..." - Austinist

"EP Review from Sirens of Decay: Technicolor Hearts – Corpus Christi EP"

The Corpus Christi EP, at it’s core, is Technicolor Hearts proving that an unorthodox approach is not only viable – if done right it is nothing short of exceptional. There is no full band, it’s simply two musicians who seem to have an excellent sense of each other’s abilities. I’ve listened to the three tracks roughly twenty times through and I honestly can’t tell you which member paints the backdrop for these beautiful tracks. The combination is pretty great, and I’m definitely excited to hear more. - Sirens of Decay

"KUT 90.5 Song of the Day: "Pretty""

The song burns slow like an indie rock torch song. There’s a strange dichotomy at work on “Pretty.” The song at once strikes a mournful tone, but like the sun peeking out through the clouds, there’s hope in there as well. Cherie’s expressive, enigmatic vocals are enticing. It’s not a song that you just listen to, you have to let it wash over you. - KUT 90.5 / kut.org
