Bio

“The streets can be a very cold place.” This is how young rapper “TeeGee”, aka Tommie Blanchey, described growing up in the concrete playground of the Central District. “I've seen all kinds of crazy things happen-people getting jumped every day in middle school to armed robberies over fifty dollars”, he recollects over his hostile upbringing. “It just makes you numb to reality, and you get used to it the more you see it every day.” These are the experiences of 19-year old rapper TeeGee from Seattle, Washington, who credits his upbringing a split between the Central District and Federal Way during his adolescent years. “Music has always been a part of my life, and I believe that I have the drive and talent to do it.”
His journey of climbing the charts doesn’t come without his own set of hardships. “The music business is not just about being an artist-it’s a business. When I collaborated with my first producer trying to get my music recorded, the music was the coming out great, but the business side was a disaster because at the end of the day, I lost all my recordings and masters to a lot of those tracks. It was like the last six months I had been grinding was a waste.” However, TeeGee didn’t let this setback stop him from pursuing his passion. “I just bounced back and signed with Steady on the Clock Entertainment and re-recorded all new material even better than the tracks I lost. I was going to succeed at this at any price, no matter what it took.”
Now a lot more experienced in the music business, he has a new perspective on his career and which direction he wants to take it. With his mixtape “Var$ity” being released by December 2011, he is more focused than ever. “I’m staying focused on the music and interacting with the fans on Twitter and Facebook, drumming up publicity for his album. I have been staying away from all the bad things that mess up a lot of people’s careers like partying, groupies, and the haters.”
As far as what to expect from his newest mixtape, he claims that it will be about having fun, getting the party started, as well as tracks to serenade the ladies. “It’s a reflection of where I am in my life right now. I am enjoying myself and learning about life one experience at a time. I just want to show people how I came up in this game and giving others hope that they can do the same thing. With the massive blowup of social media like Facebook and Twitter, I am able to share my point of view with people I don’t know and relate with them. The one thing I want them to know is just to keep their head up and believe in yourself and in your dream and nothing is impossible.”
TeeGee says that his goal is to build his name up as an independent artist.” I want to build up my empire something like Cash Money Records and what they did with Lil Wayne.” He states Tupac Shakur, .Wiz Khalifah, Big Sean, Tyga and YG as his many influences that he looks to for inspiration. With talent like his, he will join the ranks of his role models as one of the most memorable voices of his generation.
