- Red Bull Music Academy Radio

"SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE: HOT & SCARY TEEHN BWITCHES!"

Teehn Bwitches is some anonymous dj, remixer, musician and I’m just going to go with it and believe they’re 12 years old and into magic, I mean hey this might be Witch House’s Jessi Slaughter for all we know. The sound though labeled Witch House is closer to the Dipset Trance Party mixtape that came out recently, it’s doom trance, dubby and dragged and apocalyptic but not super slow, it would be possible to DJ this stuff in a club and have people dance... possibly. High pitched drones from buzz saw synths, clattering high hats echoing handclap presets, dragged vocals, dark and droney but also with a light blissed out touch, like a breakdown in some super club's DJ set that’s just gone wrong and fallen into some dark K hole of laser burns and falling mirror balls. So in some ways it is similar to †‡† and Story of Isaac, to name a few of my other favourites doing this kind of music.
All four songs (yeah only four!) are up on Soundcloud and are available to download. They have the great titles of; H4PPY 7dB, (which is a short mixtape) Illuminati Princess, Wicked Dr. And the genius that is “unlimited wireless internet access.” I’ve been listening to these tracks so much just recently that I forget that some of them remixes or at least I think they are, they seem so familiar to my ears now that I’m not sure. Anyway I love these tracks and you should to, this is a sound of 2011 that will slowly rise in your audio consciousness as the year progresses. Mark my words we’ll all be slow dancing to doom trance by the next Xmas as we wait for the end of the world. -
