A poetic and musical encounter between two rivers. Two cultures that crossed in the past and that meet again here in the Portuguese singer Susana Travassos voice and in the Brazilian composer's guitar Chico Saraiva. A dialogue between Portugal and Brazil with a repertoire of original songs of Chico Saraiva and of great works of Portuguese and Brazilian masters that acquire a new dimension in the arrangements for guitar and voice.

Biography

Susana Travassos

Susana belongs to the new generation of portuguese singers that develop a musical connection between Portugal and Brazil since 2009. In 2008, the singer released her first album,Oi Elis,a tribute to Elis Regina, one of the most important Brazilian singers. Since then she has been performing in Portugal, Spain, Brazil and African countries, where her 'ethereal voice, unique voice quality and soul that surges through her mouth' ensured a very warm welcome.
In 2009, together with such masters as Zeca Baleiro, Mafalda Minozzi and Fortuna, Susana Travassos got invited to engage in Sotaques Paulistas, a project produced by Sesc Pompeia. A year later, in 2010, she started a collaboration with composers Chico Saraiva and Luis Felipe Gama, and participates in a tribute to Heitor Villa Lobos alongside Chico Saraiva and Daniel Murray.
Susana Travassos is featured in Vitor Santana's albumBeiruteand in a new album of Chico Lobo. She was also a special guest of Zeca Baleiro's project Baile do Baleiro.
All the while, Susana's collaboration with composer and guitarist Chico Saraiva strengthened and resulted in a soon-to-be-released albumTejo-Tiet.She is also currently preparing to record her new solo albumMar Inteirowith a pianist Luis Felipe Gama. The disk will include original unpublished tracks.
Susana Travassos is also a member of the Orquestra Todos, a multicultural band that unites musicians of different origins who come together to create something truly universal: music. They blend together African, Indian, Romanian, South American sounds as well as, naturally, tunes from Portuguese-speaking countries, and the band is becoming more and more popular in Portugal. The first album is on its way.

Chico Saraiva

Composer, guitarist and arranger. He inaugurates in the CD gua (1999-MCD) with entirely instrumental work. In 2003 he presents his synthesis between song and music for guitar, that earns him the VI Prmio Visa-Edio Compositores (VI Visa Award Composers Edition) - one of the most respected awards of popular music in Brazil. As part of the award he records the CD Trgua (2003- Biscoito Fino) that is labeled as masterpiece by the European press. In Saraivada (2007- Biscoito Fino) the composer also starts performing as singer, in repertoire that presents an authorial reading of the music performed by the traditional cultures of Brazilian root, with which Chico Saraiva lives together in his research group A Barca (The Boat) for more than 10 years. A Barca has three CDs in which it presents different Brazilian traditional kinds, such as coco, maracatu and carimb, assimilated in the countless trips of the group through the interior of Brazil.
Chico Saraiva performed in works such as in the CD Promessa de vida (One Soul) recorded in New York in 2005 with mezzo-soprano Alexandra Montano. In 2009 he releases the authorial CD Sobre Palavras (label Borand), project in partnership with singer Vernica Ferriani and with the carioca writer Mauro Aguiar, the project was one of the two selected in the state of So Paulo by the Pixinguinha Project (Funarte) - dedicated to the recording of authorial music. It organizes the future registration of their compositions for guitar, interpreted by the Duet Saraiva-Murray that is made up with the guitarist Daniel Murray.
Chico Saraiva is presenting his authorial repertoire along great names of the Brazilian music such as Guinga and Francis Hime, and he enters now in studio for the registration of Tejo-Tiet, work in partnership with the Portuguese singer Susana Travassos, who comes, gradual and naturally, approaching in presentations in Brazil and Portugal in the last two years.
