"Tek Swisha ‘Ground Work’ (Mixtape) | @TekSwisha"

Boston’s own independent rapper Tek Swisha releases his 14 track mixtape Ground Work with features by G, Yung Haze, Shatta Lindo, Jay Trap Dollas and M.I.G.

The tape goes in and the production is solid, Tek is definitely an artists to keep an eye out for. The track ‘Lord Knows’ goes hard on the Dj Smallz and Dj Shure Fire hosted mixtape. Look out for the visual to the track to drop soon.

In the meantime between time check out the tracklisting of his project and cop the free download below.

"TEK SWISHA Drops “Ground Work” hosted by DJ Smallz & DJ Shure Fire"

Tek Swisha is an up and coming artist from Boston, MA. He was born on December 14 to a mother with Southern roots and a father of West Indian decent. Raised in a rough neighborhood, Tek had to be tough and his experiences are often displayed in his work. Born into a family where music was a heavy influence, he quickly picked up the habit.

Although he began doing music at a young age, it wasn’t until he grew older that he got the opportunity to record. Tek released his first mixtape ‘Jackin’ Season’ back in June of 2011. Now, he has released his second mixtape, ‘Ground Work’.

The 14-track mixtape Ground Work, also showcases features by G, Yung Haze, Shatta Lindo, Jay Trap Dollas and M.I.G. It features rhythmic, musical beats rather than much of the hardcore sampling you would hear from many other hip hop artists. Also, Tek Swisha uses his sensational flow, great lyrics and artistic talents to make this a great listen.

“Tru Story” is the perfect opener, with Tek flowing quickly and accurately. This is easily one of the more catchy songs, and ultimately a big highlight. “Niggers Scared, Hoes Ain’t” is a classic parody, with some sweet and explicit rhymes. The set of songs that fall in around the middle of the album all feature some fantastic beat hooks, solid lyrics and great rapping from Tek. “My City” features an appearance by G. “Ryde Out” is one of my favourites on the album, featuring a great guest appearance from Yung Haze.

With only his second formal contribution to the mixtape scene, Tek Swisha manages to vividly recreate the world of gangsters and hoes, as well as a world of hope, and all in one bundle of rhymes and a deeply analytical intellect. His unique flow calls for nothing more than admiration, as he blazes, sparkles, shimmers, and shocks all across Ground Work.

From beginning to end, this mixtape is a great listen. Tek is an able poet. His lyrics give you visuals and his thoughts are way deeper than the average rapper. If you want to listen to lyrics that make you think and are creative, just get past the explicit cursing and you’ll hear a whole lot more down there. The beats and rhymes are exceptional! The messages are real and guest appearances shine.

This mixtape does what many don’t. It delivers! It’s mature, has amazing and well-used features, and is pieced together with top notch production. Most importantly, Tek manages to bring you the street in its entire inglorious splendour from a perspective of one who is still in touch with what it’s like. The beats, emotion and lyrics, though overtly explicit, are amazing. This is throwback to real rap music and it will stand the test of time!
