"Telecom At The Annex - Aug 24 2008"

Clever and enticing riffs, found in extended instrumental introductions—hear “Steel City”

Lead vox sung with air-gulping passion a la Matthew Bellamy—hear “Desert Reef”

Unconventional chord progressions creating a distinctive sound and peculiar moods—hear “New World”

Propulsive beats, conducive to movement—hear “Morning Star”

With a style that’s hard to pin to any one rock sub-genre, Telecom brought something that felt familiar and at the same time entirely new to The Annex’s stage with their seven-song set on Sunday night.

Bio

NEW YORK, JULY 2008

TELECOM is a 4-piece rock outfit comprised of brothers Constantine (Vox, lead guitar) and George Georgiadis (drums) with Nancy Ferro, Jr. (bass) and Bayron Belza (rhythm guitar).

Formed in Queens New York roughly 3 and a half years ago, Telecom has allowed their sound, songwriting and live chops to solidify organically, playing venues such as the Annex, Piano's, Snitch, Trash and Arlene's Grocery as well as venturing out of town to play Club and College dates in New Jersey, where they enjoy strong support as well as media visibility : their songs INTRO, ARGENT and 200 TONS have been featured on the New Jersey college radio stations WMSC of Montclair State University, and WRPR of Ramapo College.

Listening to Telecom's soaring melodies, driving rhythm section, intricate guitar work and cutting lyrics will make your body move and spirit sigh. Their singular mixture of hard-hitting alternative rock, veering-on-disco beats and fearless vocals seem to walk the exact line separating the two sides of the Atlantic, giving fans of both Bloc Party and Cold War Kids, Muse and Interpol alike something to hold dear.

Currently in the studio recording their first full-length release, yet wanting to use their newest material for the present press kit / CMJ submission, Telecom opted for 4 quick-and-dirty, live-in-the-studio recordings made  with long-time engineer, collaborator and champion James Deering. Previously, Telecom has released the digital-only 'ABC EP', produced by Bruce Smith ( PIL, Bjork, Maroon 5 ) which acted as their demo, streamed on myspace and could only be obtained via download from their website using a password made available exclusively at shows or through their mailing list.
