"Temeka Thompson Not Afraid to Bow Down"

Temeka Thompson is a newcomer to gospel, but her debut CD Bow Down, reveals a deep dedication to ministering to God’s people through song. Hailing from Atlanta, GA and Tallahassee, FL, she is a gifted singer, songwriter, and arranger.

Bow Down is written mostly by Thompson and husband Eric. Lead and background vocals, writing, and arrangement are also provided by producer Phillip Carter, who has worked with industry heavyweights such as Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Albertina Walker, The Hawkins Family, and Jennifer Holliday.

The CD opens with the up-tempo “We Lift Our Hands,” describing the Lord as “so Holy, so Awesome, so Wonderful.”

“Giving You Praise” is a laid-back summer groove that helps listeners “praise Him in the sanctuary, clap your hands, and do your dance.” Carter shines in vocals, arrangement, and keyboard play. Thompson excitedly declares that she can’t help herself when thinking about God’s grace and all He’s done.

In “Our God,” the lead and background vocals unite to lift His name in harmony. This track compels hand waving and bowing down before Him in adoration.

The simple lyrics of “Fill This House” get to the heart of worship: “We praise You in this house; let Your glory fill this house. You are worthy in this house. We love You in this house. You are awesome in this house.”

In the title track, Thompson has a heart-to-heart with God, expressing what she is compelled to do when entering His presence and surrounded by His glory. In the “safest place she knows,” she can’t help but bow before the throne of grace and ask to be filled with His Spirit. Thompson’s lead vocals start out gentle then soar. A power-packed live version appears near the end of the CD.

“Now and Always” is another love song to God in which Thompson speaks of always looking forward to her time with Him. Background vocalists Donita Hubbard, Tenea Clarck, Ana Mcgruder, and Carter again harmonize in worshipful reverence.

Next, Thompson provides a beautiful cover of Audrey Meir’s 1959 classic, “His Name is Wonderful.” Then Thompson and company surprise listeners with “More,” a Latin jazz track with prayerful lyrics that are as honest as they are catchy. Thompson expresses her desire to become more like Christ but admits to the tug-of-war between spirit and flesh. The song is a lyrical prayer asking to be cleansed from sin, fear, and doubt.

Thompson caps off the project with “Rest,” dedicated to her late mother, Carolyn and with “A Child’s Prayer” done by her son, Eric Jr.

Thompson was created to be a psalmist for God, to write and sing songs in worship and praise. Bow Down is pure, genuine, sincere, and humble. You won’t find any rifts up and down the vocal scales here, just a psalmist “bowing down” before God.

Bio

This psalmist, after God’s own heart, is opening the eyes of people all over the world. Born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Tallahassee, Florida Temeka is dedicated to touching the lives of God’s people through singing, writing songs, and acting.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force and surviving the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks at the Pentagon, Temeka had no doubts that she was called to minister through song. While ministering for various ceremonies and events in Alaska, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey Florida and the DC metropolitan area, she is still amazed at how awesome and faithful God is. Her acting highlight, is performing as a lead character (Shanay) in, “Satan’s Expose’ Phase II, the most graphic stage play in America”, directed by Jay Cameron.

Though busy being a faithful wife and mother; this disciple, deems it necessary to volunteer her time and assistance at Nursing Homes, Homeless shelters, and teach youth about abstinence and self-esteem. Temeka is perhaps best known for being real, down to earth, and anointed. As a gifted writer, singer and arranger, her musical highlights are singing with Joe Pace of the Colorado Mass Choir and singing at the White House.

Although new to the gospel industry, The Princess of Praise and Worship is no stranger to the Holy Spirit. Her debut album “Bow Down” is a mixture of praise and worship and inspirational songs. Produced by internationally known Phillip Carter, whose impressive resume includes working with Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Albertina Walker, Edwin, Walter and Tramaine Hawkins and Jennifer Holliday, this CD is a must have.

“Temeka Thompson is a breath of fresh air. Her vocals are light and angelic, which enables her God-given ability to minister to the hardest of hearts and defeated spirits. She is uplifting, inspiring and ordained for such a time as this!”
