Bio

An emerging soulful American R&B singer and songwriter, with raw, honest, and outside-the-box music, is carving her own niche in the industry. Tempress Beavers, professionally known as “Temperance” is captivating and moving, with new releases that herald the arrival of a talented and significant new songstress. One whose music feels familiar in the best possible way, while striking out on it’s own territory.

Born February 12, 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, Temperance began her calling early as a child during a tradition when the family would always circle around the piano and be given a part to sing. “I would sing with my mom all the time when we cooked, cleaned and when we were upset to ease our minds.” Singing was Temperance’s tranquility, her peace, her gift that she wanted to share with the world.

Her music career began as a member of a local female group, “Female Ambassadors”, which later uncovered her talents and skills as she began appearing on other local artist recordings, and performing at local night clubs and talent shows. By the age of 20, she broke out of her shyness and started to record solo tracks. Temperance was determined to break into the industry and by her will power, maneuvered her way into meeting Eminem, and rapper Proof of the group D12, who co-wrote one of her first singles “Ballers Night Out”, which was a local club banger.

Drawing on the influences of R&B and soul singers like Betty Wright, Leela James, Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, and Pink, who inspired her during her formative years, “you couldn’t keep me out of the mirror” when she was younger. Temperance was destined to pursue a career in music.
Always in a creative mood, in her first collection of song releases, women inspired her to write the song titled, “Get Right or Get Left". After hearing everything that women wanted and expected out of a man, her question back to women was, “Do you embody and exude the qualities a good man needs in a woman? Men have standards too! I’m just kicking a little knowledge to my ladies, advising them to get right or get left behind.”

After signing with Skinnzo Records in 2012, Temperance is singing her songs precisely the way she always wanted, creating releases that are the culmination of where she’s been and where she’s going, and a vocal style that is claiming a loyal following dominated by hip-hop sounds, with the tell-it-like-it-is musical statements that identify Temperance as the “real deal”.
