"South sounds 2016: Blind Mule Artist"

Hailing from Austin, Texas, Ten Foot Beast is a powerhouse of distorted riffs, punishing drums, and pulsing tempos. Having performed in Mobile on multiple occasions, the band is looking forward to returning to the Azalea city for Southsounds 2016

“The Blind Mule really takes good care of us every time we pass through. The shrimp and grits is pretty dope,” Jason Erwin says.

The band’s energetic performances often work the audience into a frenzy. Ten Foot Beast is still searching for a talented vocalist who can match the intensity of their instrumental performances. Perhaps they will find one among the many musicians present at Southsounds.

“It’s always better when people move around, so we always like to see a good mosh,” Erwin explains. - Tim Borland

"Doomed & Stoned. They Say Size Matters...."

They say size matters. Case in point? Ten Foot Beast from Austin, Texas. It’s hard to fathom three band members making a record that is this BIG, and I mean not in the sense of length (the total experience clocks in at about 24 minutes), but in the sense of sound and concept. Five tracks that are heavy-as-hell, each having a story to tell. Not with lyrics, because these are “songs without words” in the classical sense (e.g. all instrumental). Each track is so well crafted that it can’t help but inspire the imagination, conjuring pictures of adventurous journeys in distant lands and brutal battles with formidable foes. In short, this is one record you’ll want to hear again and again.

While we’ve dropped the point system here at Doomed & Stoned for albums to allow our reviewers more critical liberty, if I were to make an exception and give ‘Ten Foot Beast’ a rating, it would be a solid 5 out of 5 (and completely worth the $5 asking price, which will fund their August tour of Columbia). A fantastic debut from a band we’re sure to see and here more of in years to come. Now, time for me to give it another spin….
