Bio

Ten Bears is an eclectic acoustic rock band, originally from Hobart, Tasmania. Combining dynamic 12-string guitar playing and powerful vocals with harmonic bass playing, energetic percussion and melodic vocals harmonies, Ten Bears have a capacity to intrigue and enthrall audiences, displaying a great degree of talent, experience and professionalism.

The trio was formed in June 2005 by Josh Wilkinson, an exciting young singer/songwriter with a background as one of Tasmania’s best 12-string guitarists. With considerable experience working both in bands and as a solo performer, Josh has been entertaining audiences since 2002 at numerous Tasmanian and Victorian venues, performing more than fifty gigs a year in 2004 and 2005 and supporting the likes of Deborah Conway, Nick Barker and The Vasco Era. In May 2005 Josh released his Debut EP “The Smokey Mirror", which has received airplay on regional Tasmanian ABC radio and in its first week of release was chosen as a feature CD on Hobart’s community station, Edge radio.

Since Josh united with Jill Krasnicki (bass, backing vocals) and Dan Campbell (drums), Ten Bears have been performing regularly to growing and appreciative audiences, receiving much respect and admiration for the degree of integrity in the songs they play, in both their original material and wisely chosen covers.
They’ve also enjoyed airplay, interviews and live performances on regional Tasmanian ABC Radio, Edge radio, Sydney’s FBI radio and Newcastle community radio.
Other highlights have included performing at the Cygnet Folk Festival and supporting Marcia Hines at her Starry Night concert.

In November 2005 Ten Bears embarked on a very successful three week tour through TAS, VIC and NSW. Starting with the Rage at the Ranch festival in northern Tasmania, they performed a total of ten shows at venues such as the Espy, the Ding Dong (Melb), the Cat & Fiddle and Spectrum (Syd) and received a consistently warm and encouraging response.

Seeking greater inspiration and challenges, Ten Bears relocated to Melbourne in February 2006. The first gig of their Melbourne stay at the Espy was met with great enthusiasm, a promising start to a long journey.
