Tens Of Thousands

New York City, New York, USA
BandPopRock

Super catchy indie pop from Brooklyn! Fronted by brother/sister duo Jeff and Kristen, Tens of Thousands writes perfect pop songs with smart, quirky lyrics and catchy melodies. Think early Beatles and Weezer with some synth-pop thrown in.

Biography

Tens of Thousands is the brainchild of Jeff Aldrich, who after some fruitless years pursuing fame and fortune via his dissonant art rock projects (good plan, right?) decided to start a new band whose mission statement was to have fun, write fun catchy music, and play shows that were more like parties than concerts--where the audience blows bubbles during some songs and plays miniature plastic instruments along with others, and where the band covers songs like Britney Spears' "Toxic" (which always turns a few heads (in the good way, not the Exorcist way)). He convinced his sister Kristen to take some time away from her exploits in the NYC improv/sketch comedy scene to sing harmonies and play castanets/tambourine/kazoo/triangle, and he brought on friends Eric Reed (drums), Andrew Ranaudo (synths), and Dan Levine (bass). Playing packed weekend shows in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan, Tens of Thousands is having a great time, and they want you to have a great time too, dammit!

Lyrics

Galaxy Party

Written By: Jeff Aldrich

I know there's a place
Crazy people from the whole entire galaxy
Congregate and have a party
Awesome people from the whole entire universe
I wish I wish it really was
Cause out here things have been getting rough
Big Stan was a man
Went crazy on the island of Oregano
He wrote a poem about this place
That's how I know that it cannot really truly be
I wish I wish it really was
Cause out here things have been getting rough
I thought my love was good enough

Find a way, Oh God I gotta find a way
Find my way back home
Find a way, Oh God I gotta find a way
Find my way back home my way back home

I know there's a place
Crazy people from the whole entire galaxy
Congregate and have a party
Awesome people from the whole entire universe
I wish, I wish it really was
Cause out here things have been getting rough
And I thought my love was good enough

Bury It

Written By: Jeff Aldrich

Let's bury the treasure,
And then bury the map,
And then bury the shovel
That we used to bury that.
Let's bury it.
Let's bury it.

Everything we found,
Everything we did,
Let's put it underground
As though we never lived.
Let's bury it.
Let's bury it.

Can we start over please?
We can rediscover fire.
We can explore foreign lands again.

Cover it with soil,
Flowers can grow.
Everything we did
No one has to know.
Let's bury it.
Let's bury it.

Can we start over please?
We can rediscover fire.
We can explore foreign lands again.

I woke quickly from a dream.
O clarity, lucidity!
Thoughts like mirror on a wall.
Wearing high heels,
They looked so tall.
Before it ended,
It all came crashing down again.
The rubble covered me,
Blankets returning to my bed...

Can we start over please?
We can rediscover fire.
We can explore foreign lands again.

Everything we did,
Every mistake
Brought us to the world
That we live in today
So let's bury it.
Let's bury it.
