Bio
Under the banner of Ten Thousand Wolves, Barbara Adler (winner of CBC Poetry Face Off, winner of 2004 Spoken Wordlympics with CR Avery and Shane Koyczan) spearheads a musically and theatrically adventurous new project: the Johnny Horton Remix. A
stellar line-up of Vancouver, BC musicians reinvents the classics of
country/rockabilly legend Johnny Horton, with lyrics and arrangements that showcase Adler's signature mix of dry humour and human insight. A tune about marauding bears is transformed into a disco-punk anthem to dangerous women; a tale about a rascally mountain man is recast as the schemes of a Vancouver housing developer. Equal parts entertaining and rabble-rousing, Ten Thousand Wolves' Johnny Horton Remix is an accordion-fueled, harmony-filled tribute to mushing huskies and the
Northern Cowboy.
