BIOGRAPHY

Brevard W. McCullough III, also known as Teop, also known as Myer Lanski, was born on July 28, 1982 in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up on Luzerne & Ashland (Down the Hill) in East Baltimore, known for Dunbar High School, Patterson Park, home of Anthony Jones, Hot Summer Night’s basketball tournaments, John Hopkins hospital, Bojax Park and Northeast Market. He began hustling at a young age and accomplished and mastered a hustling lifestyle. He achieved earning money, success, and producing business deals. But, after being suspected of possession of manufacturing, possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy, Teop made a life changing decision to focus on music. Also, with the additions of his two sons, Brandon and William, it gave Teop the incentive to move into another direction in his life.

The love of music grew from early in Teop’s childhood. His love of music began in 1988/1989. Primarily, he loved the culture of the music. The break dancing, parties, clothes, shoes, and slang was the culture and the music was a manifest of it. Following the love of hip-hop, he loved the music because it drove the culture. His love of music ranged from N.W.A. to M.C. Hammer to Luther Vandross. The music that he listened to was the soundtrack of his life. Teop loved all types of music, which all had a flavor of hip-hop, but he hadn’t become a true hip-hop fan just yet.

The driving force of him becoming a hip-hop fan was when the G-funk era came out and Snoop Doggy Dog became his inspiration and the song Dre Day became the signature song that he related to. His life was emulated in hip-hop songs that he could connect with. He also loved hip-hop songs because of the art imitating life. The love of hip-hop grew into a passion and a strong devotion to becoming an artist himself.

While attending Patterson High School at the age of sixteen, hip-hop became deep-rooted in him. He participated in rap battles that would take place in the bathrooms or on school bleachers. When he battled other would-be young rappers at school he realized that he had a real talent. He developed and mastered his skills. Then Teop began attending parties and throwing rap shows and battling other talented rappers. He became known in Baltimore for his rap ability.

Although Teop recognized his talent, the hustling life called first. Then after the incident with the law, he came back to his real and true love of art/music.

Originally Teop was identified as TEOP NABRU (Urban Poet spelling backwards). This name described him as being conscientious, knowledge driven and being political (spoke about the police, government and politics). Teop Nabru is an expression. But, after realizing that he was more than just conscientious, he shortened his name to Teop (Poet).

Teop represents Baltimore – the forgotten, dark, and dangerous place. Nighttime is the roughest. Baltimore blends the brutality with the prosperity, those who are shining and making money. Nighttime is life juggling, but if you survive to the daytime you will shine. Teop wants daytime all the time and to bring the music audience a new, unique style that only the finest from Baltimore can bring.

Teop wants to be part of an organization that will allow him to spread his wings, like Def Jam; you definitely have the opportunity to do so with Def Jam. Def Jam is the originator, it is responsible for spawning hip-hop with artists such as LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Fat Boys, EPMD, DMX, and Jay-Z. Being able to collaborate with Jay-Z would be reason enough to be a part of Def Jam. Jay-Z is the best M.C., the innovator. He went through the struggle of becoming an established artist and he would be a great teacher to learn from either by word or by just viewing his actions.

Teop can become the next big ICON. He brings street credibility. His style is versatile and on any song he can bring his brilliant and distinctive flavor to the music. Teop’s music is laid-back, hustle and grind music. His real life events are expressed in his music. He transports truth about his experiences, trials and tribulations to his music. He is very hardworking, dedicated and loyal to his craft. He believes in his music and wants to offer to the public an innovative and new smartness that will be appreciated if given the opportunity to showcase his talent.
